Japs are nostalgic for this.
There was a Shounen Jump edition of the Famicom mini with a bunch of Jump licensed games on it, and I think Dragon Quest randomly in there. I guess it's just weird for me to remember that Jump played a big role in introducing millions of people to the game, so it's kinda connected with the magazine.

But the sequel is better. Made by Chunsoft it's a wonder it hasn't been translated yet, it's one of the best Famicom RPGs that doesn't have a translation yet. I'm ready to bet it uses the same text compression method as DQ4 so the available space for text must be quite tight.

I recognize at least two characters that are definitely drawn by Go Nagai.

Yes it introduced DQ1 but also DQ2, and they had the exclusive on the (originally planned) release date before it got delayed

Yes and it also has a couple of tracks from the composer of Metal Max. And it has famous manga artists for the villains.

It's the Famicom RPG Dream Team, the Chrono Trigger of the Famicom.

Wait actually I think the villains thing was for the first game, I don't remember if they did the same thing for the sequel though it does have villains and NPCs from the respective series.
