This board serves no purpose other than old millennials and generation Xers who used to browse the gaming communities online during the 1990s and early 2000s and exchange nostalgia and reminisce about the past.
Anonymous No.11826234 [Report]
...And that's a good thing.

Pretty much. To me, 4chan is still a newfag site that didn't exist when I started posting online. I don't love being here now, but all the places I used to go are dead or extremely slow.

not true!
it's also for faggot zoomers to make awesome posts like
>wow, this really holds up!
>did people really X?
>is it okay to play this game on an emulator?
>what do you guys think of retro achievements?
and sometimes they larp as millenials and say ridiculous shit like
>arcades were really dangerous!
>nobody bought a ps2 to play dvds!
>actually, nobody cared about [monstrously popular game] until [faggot youtuber] did that video about it!

....Or, to talk about old games that they're playing or to discover other games they never came across decades ago? Are all Gen Z'ers as annoying in their nihilism as you are, or are you just a special case of a pretend-deep wannabe philoso-zoomer?

Tell me about it. Getting old sucks but it's better than the alternative. Just make sure you remember to enjoy your youth and not waste it all on sites like this.

Not really, it's probably only 10% gen xers, and is mostly younger millennials and zoomers who shit on all systems and games which they didn't play as children. It's an odd place as a board about old media where there is active hostility and disdain about most of the old media it's supposedly dedicated to.
Anonymous No.11826270 [Report]
Modern games suck. I pretty much only play old games. Nothing good comes out anymore. The industry is completely pozzed. Not even shitty AAA studios like Bethesda make anything anymore.
Anonymous No.11826271 [Report]
of course a frogposter cares about discussing nostalgia more than the games themselves

You're in a place where the childhood of most of the individuals was essentially non-stop console warring.

Unapologetic zoomer here.
I'm just here because I like classic SNES JRPGs and no one else my age outside of here knows about them beyond like, EarthBound, FF4 thru 6, and Chrono Trigger. All fantastic games, mind you, but sometimes I wanna talk about something a little bit more obscure, like Brain Lord for example.

Do zoomers still play PS1 JRPGs? I guess it never got any better after Final Fantasy 9 huh? That pretty much was the JRPG peak.

Obviously it's 4chan. /tv/ is about hating movies and /v/ is about hating modern games. Don't see why /vr/ should be any different.

Grew up with a ps1 and n64, I just want to talk about sega genesis games. I don't care about whether or not it's better or worse than the SNES or console X, I just want to have conversations about the games I collected over the past few years and currently enjoy on the genesis and there's no real place on the internet for it, not even here really.

I grew up on the mega drive. What are your fav games on it? My fav probably was Street Fighter 2 but that wasn't an exclusive. Apart from that Contra Hard Corps and Rocket Knight Adventures were also great. And the Sonic games of course.

/v/ serves no purpose other than discussing steam metrics, culture wars and coombait posting. at least we occasionally discuss vidya games here.

Just throw it out there. I made a short lived Rastan thread when I played through it. I might make a Toki thread since I did a 1CC of it today.

True lies, Zero tolerance(which thankfully has gotten a lot of steam the past few years), rolling thunder 3, MUSHA, Quackshot, the list goes on. If you see a post of a chart of 81 sega genesis games(pic related), it's likely me and that's my collection; everything there is catered specifically to my tastes. I don't play coop or versus games unless they have a good singleplayer, cause I'm a loser who doesn't really like to be around others. I love rocket knight though and I wish capcom made some more bangers for the genesis.

The true side to this is
>everybody loved [game] until [faggot youtubers and the zoomer community] decided that it was actually always shit
Anonymous No.11826365 [Report] >>11826407
>>11826354
to add, Rolling thunder 2/3 are severely slept on, true lies is way too fucking good for no reason, and the lost world jurassic park and zero tolerance are seriously impressive games

Good list. What do you think of Soleil (Crusader of Centy) and Story of Thor? I only rented them back then but I really liked them too. Also no Shining Force on that list? Shining in the Darkness was cool too. A bit repetitive but it was my first RPG and a really cool dungeon crawler.

Don't like rpgs in any form, srpg, jrpg, arpg, whatever
I've owned them all and just end up selling them due to not really playing them
crusader of centy is too short for what it is but it was fun for what it was, couldn't justify owning a cart I don't play that often that costs as much as it does. Beyond oasis I could honestly pass on, didn't really interest me, but it was a really good looking game.
>>11826380
only US releases, no rpgs.

I don't think it's an unreasonable desire to want to discuss old video games without having to listen to old people go on and on about their dead end childhoods.

I also have a weird thing of games with batteries, especially on the genesis where it's a bit of pain to replace them properly. So I usually pass on anything with a save battery. autism for real

I have only played a little bit of the arcade version of Rolling Thunder 2. Not sure what are, if any, the differences between the arcade and console iterations.
