No, the immersion breaking was the gameplay that the player has that caused the outcome of the game to unfold.
That cutscene nonsense totally breaks the player immersion. The super CQC shit with the cyber ninja, the previously mentioned rocket hop. The player can't do any of that shit, and the outcome seems tied tot the idea that those things happened that the player had zero input on.
This was before QTE were more common in gameplay, which aren't a perfect solution, they're more like a holdover from Dragon's Lair gameplay, but its slightly less immersion breaking.
Its good that nintendo players who may not have had a ps or ps2 got to experience the game, but the ps game is a better experience.
