Well after 90+ hours I have completed all of Shining Force 3. And you know what? I christen it as pure Kamige ludo. If you have a Saturn play them now. Even if you don't have one play it in an emulator or something.

I know, it's the Saturn's magnum opus. What was your favourite disc? What characters did you miss on? Do you agree that the middle of Disc 2 is the lowest point in the series? Did you find it stupid how in disc 3 everyone gets captured so easily yet the Rainbloods are a letdown compared to their invicible selfs of disc 2?

>What was your favourite disc?
Either 1 or 3. I could see myself returning to just play through the first episode in the future, similar to a 90s PC FPS where the first episode is good enough on its own.
>What characters did you miss on?
I didn't use a guide, so a lot of them. The only esoteric one I got was Frank because I was spoiled on how to get him from a post on Shining Force Central. I absolutely rekt Spiriel, Stella and Jade.
>Do you agree that the middle of Disc 2 is the lowest point in the series?
Yeah but it was kind of inevitable that the middle point would be the worst in a long story.
>everyone gets captured so easily yet the Rainbloods are a letdown compared to their invicible selfs of disc 2?
The rainbloods felt like they'd be a larger part of the plot and more imposing, they turned into complete jobbers with very little lore. They also talk like cartoon villains. Probably the most disappointing part of the plot, at least their designs are cool.

I benched Rollie as soon as I could so I've never seen this

I killed Spiriel as well but I learnt my lesson afterwards

Rollie helped beat the final boss for me. I stupidly distributed all of my best items across each protagonist, thinking they'd all play an equal role in the final boss. Only out of sunken cost did I barely manage to succeed.

Also I soifaced when I heard Robby's voice, since it's one of the more underused MacinTalk 3 voices that so many Japanese games have.

I used Robbie a lot, I gave him the Loincloth and he was critting like 75% of the time with added effects that even work on bosses. Absolutely awesome.

You should check out the bonus Premium Disc if you haven't, the fights are going to be a walk in the park at that point but it's fun to be able to choose your team from anyone you had accross all 3 discs, you can do the side by side 3 hero fight you wanted

Currently going through disc 3 here.
I liked disc 2, it is the worst because you already know where it is going , your dad is a prick and the last few battles felt underwheilming, but pretty solid all around. What's wrong with it?

I hated all the stupid gimmicks
>cannon fight on the ship
>lightning generators
>Rainbloods you have to ignore/flee from that take forever to take their turns

And all three of those praticaly in a row really took a toll on me
oh and there was also Donhort being an useless retard that the game forces on you. In fact when I did the scenario with the lightning generators, I had a team of 13 (12+Donhort), then I saved Robby in the ruins so I had a team of 14. Since I had used quite a bit of healing I decided to Egress, from there the game glitched and would force a team of 12 *including* Donhort on me, and no matter what I did, the game wouldn't let Julian join the fight anymore. Because of this I stopped using Julian altogether (I knew he'd leave at some point) and he ended up starting scenario 3 quite underlvd though thankfully he caught up pretty fast.

Scenario 3 has the (spoilers) mushroom spaceship and light/dark thing at the lighthouse but those weren't annoying. I also thought the scenario where you have to catch up to the ninja rushing to the Rainbloods was quite fun; so in terms of gimmicks I think disc 3 fared a lot better.

I remember already seeing a similar post about Donhort, maybe it was you.
He really is useless in disc 2, in particular in the mission with the escaping civilians, right before the generators. It stings because you know the game can be smart with its troops, I had the same feeling shortly after with the emperor. I guess the whole point of disc 2 is that Medion is a useful pawn, meanwhile the devs were testing out gimmicks and shit for disc 3. I just hope the guys I sent to the dam in disc 1 are not fucking dead because of the emperor's trolling.
