Nintendo 64 thread
Thread about all things Nintendo 64.
Have you played any Mario 64 ROM hacks on your N64? Which ones work the best? For me stuff like Kaze's newer hacks work great but the rest, even the ones advertising themselves as "console-compatible" usually run pretty shitty, like slow-motion.

Is Wikipedia missing a game? I noticed that Wikipedia lists 388 games for the N64 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_64_games
However, this 1G1R ROM set lists 390 games https://ia902806.us.archive.org/view_archive.php?archive=/4/items/proper1g1r-collection/ROMs/Nintendo%20-%20Nintendo%2064%20%28BigEndian%29.zip. One of them is the Nintendo 64 Modem, so that doesn't count. But what is the other game? I've been scrolling through my set and I can't seem to find what it could be.

Never mind it's fucking Master Quest

Ocarina of Time is one of the crowning achievements of the 90s, along with the likes of DOOM and StarCraft. The PS1 and Saturn have some great titles, but in the console space, the 64 produced the only game of truly legendary caliber.

GB64 (this https://lambertjamesd.github.io/gb64/romwrapper/romwrapper.html) doesn't accept inputs from my controller (using the gb/gbc.v64 version on my summercart, idk if the converting individual roms to z64 version would work or not). Is this a known issue?

Can I ask why you want to emulate gameboy games on an N64 instead of just emulating them on a computer?

What are your guys thoughts on the Analogue 3D? Will it be a good N64 replacement or even worth buying?

OoT, Doom 64 and SC64 were good, but PSX had MGS, SOTN, and FF7 too

my only opinion on it is that the controller's stupid. numerous n64 games, like goldeneye, sin & punishment etc, are designed around the 3-pronged controller and are basically unplayable without that design unless you're using an emulator and a modern controller and remapping the stick to the right stick

This emulator is good but I can’t get it to save, it only saves via a save state.

The issue is actually with the Summercart itself I believe, it's been mentioned on github and it also affects the NES emulator. Basically the Summercart changed its saving behavior to be more accurate recently and that fucked up the emulators for the time being.

The Summercart firmware, I mean. If you have firmware before 2.18 it should work. Don't downgrade just for this though just wait it out imo

so aside from Summercart and the Renaissance bowls what the optimal way to play? wireless or Wired? I sit about 6 feet away from my tv and console to play comfortably but the cords dont go that far and from what ive heard is the wireless dongles have some noticeable lag

SM64 hacks I remember running well on console:
>SM64 Sapphire
>Green Stars
>Mario's New Earth

Check out Snooplax on YouTube. He often plays ROM hacks on console.

Not to crap on the Summer Cart, but the EverDrive X5/X7 has an NES core for the FPGA which seems to work pretty well. I'm hoping people will start doing stuff like that with the Summer Cart. If somebody makes a Wide Boy core for it I will definitely buy a Summer Cart.

What's the technical limitation preventing flashcarts from emulating Controller Pak saves?
Anonymous No.11950098
I'm still waiting for the RT64 renderer to finally be included in emulators (i know its in a branch of RMG already but it barely works and often crashes but when it works its so good)

I believe you can also save on NES games if you use an older version of Neon64 or the version with savestates

Is there a ROM of OOT Masterquest that I can put on a flashcart and play on my N64?

Yeah people have ripped the ROM from the GameCube game, just look up Master Quest z64 and you'll probably find it.
You'll want a patch from here https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5161.0 to make it run better on N64

its actually less accurate, it mistranslated the Ranch House into Mama's house.

the only reason the translation is more accurate, is because they used the PAL translation instead of the NTSC translation.
PAL players always had this more accurate translation.

The gamecube version only fixed a few typo's over the N64 PAL release
