Post your retro 'tisms
>visit new town in an RPG
>inn is more expensive
>go back to the previous town to save money
Bonus 'tism
>have loads of items at the end that you "saved for later"

>Going back to the previous town to save money
You're a dumbass, not only are you wasting time trudging through all the random encounters, you're going to waste resources coming back. On top of that the enemies surrounding that more expensive town will likely drop more gold so it's functionally the same price.

When I was a kid I had no issue backtracking in RPGs to save money. Just like in real life I had all the time but little money. Today is the opposite, and it reflects how I play video games. In any game given the option, I'll always choose whatever takes less time, regardless of expense.

Always trying to take the "wrong" path first so I don't miss anything before advancing.

This shit right here. This is so bad for me that it makes me not enjoy a game sometimes because I'm constantly hugging the walls. Oh god and when there is a fork in the road and I go down one side and it looks like the "correct" path I will go back to the other side and if that side doesn't have a dead end quickly I will assume that the my original path was the "wrong" one (the one I want) and I will keep going back and forth between them, advancing each side little by little until one of them has a dead end. Is there some medicine I can take that can dilute the pure raw unadulterated autism coursing through my veins?

For me, it is obtaining the maximum amount of items necessary to properly equip every character. If there are 6 to choose from, then I must have 6 of every weapon and armor, or the maximum possible if it's less. If I get excess, I have to sell it even if it's rare or not worth much gold. Also, every save file must end in :27 in the seconds slot because it is my favorite number.

I keep a little folder of txt files on my PC for each console, and I write down in each what I've done in any game I've played on it and what still needs to be completed for its '100%'. Eventually gonna back up all my saves, load all of them on an emulator to make sure they work, and have a little folder for each with what I've done in the game and what could still be done.

You guys should try this, it's really challenging. Great way to get more mileage out of your game.

I have no problems killing people but saying something mean to them and making them sad crushes my very soul.

I've always been a "chaotic/neutral/lawful good" kinda guy in RPGs but especially for a time after watching the first season of Westworld.
I couldn't shake the feeling that in some way the NPCs had some kind if soul or something.

This.
Anyone play FF12 and feel really fucking bad to have to kill Chocobos to 100 percent the game? Although desu, in FFT they were fuking assholes so I had no problem in that game. In FF12 they were so innocent.

To be fair, this is an actually the fastest way to explore in labyrinth-like maps, like Metroidvania games, with least backtracking. I'm not necessarily sure about RPGs though, sure it works too, but as you mentioned when you have a fork in the road, 2 paths can be both overly long.
This is just down to the design of the map, well designed one tries to minimize backtracking

I got over the "save this item for later" thing. Though, if it's a game I've never played before I still tend to, just in case it's used for something later... You never actually know. With games I have played before I have tons of fun using powerful items whenever.

You see, us pokemaniacs have already figured that out. I have a 2dsxl and a n3dsxl so I can trade with myself. But I also have two gbas and a ds lite so I can trade my pokemon from rse to dpp to b/w etc... then I can also trade my pokemon from rby/gsc to gen 7. But, I'm more inclined to trade my pokemon from GBA to ds and deposit them in my pokemon ranch. This way, they are not in a box for eternity. Gen 7 does have pokepelago, but nothing like my pokemon ranch or even legends Arceus and violet (idc I like them more than gen6-8).

There are rom hacks for gen 1-4 that let you catch em all without trading. I'm not usually one for rom hacks but the multiple releases per "generation" is why I never got into Pokemon games in the first place.

It used to be me too. At some point in my life I decided that missing things means added replayability and fun stories if you talk to someone else who played the same game but missed different things. Now if I get 100% too easily I get sad instead.
