Super Mario Bros. is 40 years old today!
Say something nice about it.

This and GnG are the only sidescrollers from that era that can still be enjoyed by everyone including zoomers so I think this says a lot. Timeless game

Makaimura / Ghosts n Goblins, another early sidescrolling platformer / action game

I played SMB3 first, so this one always felr strange to me, but I played it a lot. Still remember when my friends told me about the secret 1up passing the first bonus pipe. We always tried to get the 1up and then enter the pipe.
A magical game.

Ah ok

Kind of a weird choice i like it but it's extremely hard and stuff ,i don't think many zoomer will like it (ps:i'm a zoomer)

I mean like it's easy to pick up and play but you will get filter'd of course yeah. Compare it to other sidescrollers from that era, like even the later ones like Atlantis no Nazo, they all feel like absolute dogshit to play by comparison

Meh Ninja Gaiden,Megaman, Castlevania and many other are very fun to play

Actually i think the NES is the best plug and play system with the neo geo

Thanks for getting us out of the gaming crash. Unfortunately, we might be heading towards another one.

All of those came later. By early I mean everything before late 1986. Late 1986 was when devs finally figured shit out but before stuff like Castlevania the vast majority of games of that type played like absolute trash

Id say Dungeons and Dragons is the most important game in video game history.

Yep I think SMB is one of the greatest video game of all time. It's fast paced, has a decent amount of levels, has a nice incline of difficulty as the levels go up, has great control, is simply fun.

I still dig the game's challenge and level design.

I agree, Master System/Game Gear Sonic 1 is much more fun to go back to for me, better in most ways... but it came out years later, Super Mario Bros. was way more important for this medium going forward, it deserves the proper respect and celebration of its anniversary, even if one prefers Sonic or any other platforming mascot, let's leave console wars aside now.

t. Sonic/SEGA fag.

it was the first videogame I played and it set unreasonable expectations about the quality of videogames moving forward
it's insane how good it was for being one of the first of its kind. and it still plays very well today, which can't be said of a lot of classics

It influenced literally every RPG video game ever made and is still influencing games yet to be made. Any game with a enemy skeleton. Any game with a treasure chest. Any game with an inn where you talk to npcs.
