The piano puzzle is brilliantly designed and I will never understand why it gets so much flak, shit like the Shakespeare puzzle in 3 are FAR worse and genuinely unfair. How far did you get in it before giving up?

The closet has really plainly visible white scratch lines on the ground IIRC.

The Zodiac puzzle I agree with, I don't even consider it a proper puzzle, it's just a bullshit test. They give you the solution in your face immediately but then throw a gigantic red herring at you that has nothing to do with the puzzle just to confuse you and throw you off.

You are pretty much guaranteed to get Bad or Bad+ your first time, the game is designed for multiple playthroughs. IIRC there is a memo somewhere in the game that mentions Aglaophotis and it's appearance so collecting it isn't that much of a reach, although I still think the timing of when to use it during the Cybil fight is fucky.

That damn school. I still remember the first time I came across the (inoffensive) Larval Stalker. From that point on I couldn't fully trust the radio anymore... And then there's the sewer, aaaaaaaahhhhh

The influence of Jacob's Ladder is obvious, the twitching enemies are taken straight from there.
Anonymous No.12154254 [Report]
>>12154246
The twitching, the entire subway scene at the start is STRONGLY visually referenced in 3 (the gate with the lock on it looks identical to the one Heather encounters, walking down the tracks to go to a door illuminated by a red light only to have to run away quickly because a train is coming etc), and the hellish hospital scene. I know 2's monsters were mostly inspired by BDSM fashion and Francis Bacon's paintings but I always suspected the eyeless/faceless doctors and nurses in the sequence influenced their appearance too.

is there actually any indication in SH1 that aglaophotis has exorcising powers? I actually don't remember any notes about it. I remember a note hidden in Nowhere at the very end, but it might've been about the white claudia instead.
I think having to use it on Cybil is just moon logic, or at least something that's impossible to figure out by yourself on your first playthrough.
having to scoop up some liquid from the floor was already a reach for me, like how do you realistically do that with a plastic bottle. I just assumed the bottle would be used somewhere else eventually.

The base of the glass vial lying on the floor stayed upright and kept a small amount of liquid. I think Harry even mentions that some liquid is left.
So he simply grabs that 'glass cup piece' and pours it down the plastic bottle.

Sanitarium and Artaud Theater are great.
The otherworld being in control of the player via mirrors pissed me off initially but it gave way for interesting puzzle elements, so I warmed up to it.
Mechanically the game is clearly below the original trilogy, though. Combat can be iffy and breakable weapons are annoying. It's still worth a playthrough, however. It's a proper SH title, unlike Homecoming.

I don't remember, I need to replay it, but I'm pretty certain there is a memo somewhere describing aglaophotis as a red substance that can be either in liquid or solid form and has demon repelling powers or something similar. Once you know that for a second playthrough, trying to use it on Cybil is pretty obvious. The timing on that part can fuck off and die though. It's definitely not something you are intended to know on your first playthrough.

>>12156015
It wasn't even the breakable weapons that bothered me so much in that game, it's the combination of Travis being so fucking slow when he runs and him running out of stamina so ungodly fast. Also the QTE's can fuck off.
>oh look it's not-Lying Figure, time to QTE because it WILL initiate one the moment it gets close to you
