Rune Factory
I just picked this game up because I saw there was a DLC for Sakuna and I love the rice goddess loli. Is it any good? I've only played RF4 and I loved it a lot, spent 100+ hours in it.
Also general RF thread.

Yes it’s good so long as you’re not a crafting autist who only plays these games to fulfill your crafting autism. (But if that’s the case you should really be playing something like Atelier over Rune Factory anyways where crafting is actually the focus, RF has always just been an extension of Harvest Moon and is focused on being a life-sim first and foremost), most regular people only play Rune Factory for it’s social and dating sim mechanics, and in that respect it’s as good as any other Rune Factory that’s not 1, 2, or Tides.

Also now that our generals have been kicked off of /v but Rune Factory is finally back, /rfhm/ general revival WHEN?!

5/10 game at best.

Has fuckall to do with Rune Factory so if that's why you bought it, might as well refund it.

Combat is garbage. Farming barely exists. Crafting doesn't exist except through predetermined menus. Story sucks.

About the only thing half decent about this game is the village building if you care about that but even that is limited and not that great.

I have no idea why anyone talked about this game at all. There are way better games to spend your time on.

Absolutely none of those things matter in a life-sim and are tacked on window dressing at best. What really makes or breaks a Rune Factory is the social life and romance and family aspects. Are those well-done with lots of dialogue and interactions? Well congratulations you have yourself a good Rune Factory then!

Both of you are retards and only a retard would play a farming game for the life sim. They are called farming games for a reason. The life sim portion only exists because at the beginning of the genre, there wasn't enough things to do without adding that in.

I have played farming games since the original harvest moon on SNES and the only time I've given a single fuck about villagers was when a festival was going on or something is locked behind talking to them.

The fact that you dick suckers think that is the main pull of these games is retarded. I will give you that AT BEST 50% of the base likes or cares about it and most of that 50% are women who would be just as happy playing Animal Crossing which also has fuckall to do with Rune Factory or anything like it.

I can tell you’re an LARP zoomer because if you weren’t you would know that the original creator of Harvest Moon, Wada, always intended for the series to be a life sim first and foremost and it’s actually the exact opposite of what you first claimed. Hell, some of the games entries he’s directed such a A Wonderful Life or Save The Homeland barely even have farming.

You want a pure autistic farming simulator than go play Farmville, the genre has never been about that and you know it.

the reason conversing with NPCs is sluggish and limited is because of the 3d models/face to face camera
that's why there's no group dialogues outside of scripted cutscenes and why they wouldn't waste lots of dev time scripting such cutscenes for miscellaneous events throughout the year

Except no one gives a fuck about what he intended. In the end, it's the farming part that's interesting. This retard is the same guy who fucked the whole series over time because they couldn't envision the idea of giving freedom to the player and got quickly outclassed by other games as soon as any rival hit the market.

Even on the SNES, it was funner to try to see how many berries you could carry from the forest to your bin before the day ended than it was to find villagers and hear what useless bullshit they have to talk about. The furthest I've ever interacted with that system is picking out a wife from all the chicks available and only because I consider it part of beating the game.

QoL aspects they are, also add some minor bits of content, as well as offering JP VAs but at least in RF4's case it takes a pretty heavy hit in graphics by adding some garbage filter over it, not sure if 3S corrected that as i havent looked into that one too much, aside from that they're upgrades i think

Also I'm far from a graphicsfag, but the game looks like an uni student's project, they should've either taken their time or stuck to the old style. The furniture placement system is also pretty ass and triggering my autism. The rest is decently enjoyable so far at least, though I haven't gotten very far. There's contextual dialogue too, like in the newer games.
The heart events/villager events are really good so far (still in the first spring), even better than GoA in terms of expressiveness and framing, in my opinion. In fact, even though I chose to have portraits on, you really don't need them on (but I'm glad that they're there)

I seriously don't understand why these games can't just add a sexuality option when you start the game.

If you pick straight, you only have straight romance options/events. If you pick gay, you only have gay romance options/events. If you pick bi, you get all romance options/events.

Why is that so hard? Instead, most games with romances now just force you to be pansexual.
