That guy's cheating, but to kickstart your economy in ck3 you need some initial capital. The way to get this is through war. Specifically, sieges as opposed to battles. You should actively avoid battles because if you get 75% warscore from battles you can only siege down 25% warscore before it auto-peaces you at 100%.
Siege provinces that have a lot of loot and where feudal vassals primary holdings are, with luck you can capture them and ransom them for 100 gold each. Don't siege the enemy's capital because if you captute their heir or them that's less you can siege before the auto-peace.
If you're catholic try to get virtuous traits because it makes the pope more likely to accept giving you free money.
Actually upgrade vassals contracts, 0.3 gold might not seem like it's worth it, but it adds up.
Use your steward to increase development, NOT collect taxes. You will get far more in the longterm this way.
For buildings it's pretty obvious, build the ones that give the most direct gold, always prioritize farms and fields.

There's probably a bunch of min-maxy crap you can do with perks, marrying a high stewardship wife, and heir tutoring to get a perfect steward build but I wouldn't know anything about that because I roleplay.

you'll have to google events n shit but it's generally reliable
there's also specific scripts it can run, or command lines starting with "effect", but if you typo either of those two it'll crash the game.
Stuff like changing the holding type, adding trait experience, etc. I'd recommend writing things like that down on a sticky note or notepad file that you can ctrlc->ctrlv without issue.

also, bypass_requirements lets you do as it implies, but if you're on a slower system it's gonna lag a bit at first when enabled.

Do you have Iberian struggle? If not, play as one of the Christians in Spain to learn. Just go through the tooltips and pop ups and deal with each one as they come. Expect failure, but you'll get the hang of it. If you do have Struggle for Iberia I recommend turning it off.

Getting a male heir is laughably easy. You are essentially guaranteed to get a son sooner or later, because the odds are 50%.
So, the only time you actually need to divorce your wife is when she enters menopause. It doesn't really reflect the medieval mindset, like the King of France had been married to Eleanor of Aquitaine for 15 years and was panicking because she had only produced 2 daughters and thought she was incapable of birthing a son.
This type of thinking can be encouraged with secret fertility gene system.
Every character has a gene.
There are four gene types.
>A - male gene
>B - female gene
>C - mix gene
>D - infertile gene

If both parents have A gene, all their children will be boys.
If both parents have B gene, all their children will be girls.
If both parents have C gene or if one has A and the other B, there is 50% chance
If one has A and the other C, there is 75% chance of a son and 25% daughter
If one has B and the other C, there is 25% chance of a son and 75% daughter
Regardless of their parents' genes, every child has 20% chance of getting the D gene, which will mean they are infertile.

Collecting taxes is a trap, development is better for the long run. You need good provinces to keep as your capital, like farmlands, plains, or floodplains, for their bonuses, as they have good economic buildings to support your economy/development
With money flowing in, it's important to have decent MAA and station them in provinces for their optimal benefit. I'm always for a siege MAA to reduced sieges to 2 or 3 months instead of 8, which can be a great military asset, but, otherwise, look to your traditions and check what your opponents have to counter (pikes vs cavalry, heavy infantry or cavalry against archers, archers against pikes, etc).
Succession is the most key, since the game always starts gavelkind. One bonus to a province with several baronies is that all baronies go with the county upon succession, so keep building castles for your heir to take control of. Otherwise, some siblings can become allies and don't ever feel stressed about "losing" land, as you can press claims for wars.
The learning lifestyle tree is great for health and development bonuses, which alloes you to live long, gain development, and delay succession even further. But, it also is good for progressing innovations, so you can work towards better succession laws/new eras, which gives better options for your culture, such as reducing gavelkind to heir-focused succession
Lastly, vassals are idiots and only exist to hate you. Make their contracts give gold instead of levies, as levies are a useless troop; this can help your economics and MAA as you build more land for yourself and your heirs. It's fine to give into a faction to reduce crown authority as you can raise it again in 10 years, but pretender revolts will replace your kindship.

In 1066 they're not particularly prominent. After Taira no Masakado's rebellion being crushed they lost their primary base. Roads to Power is pretty enjoyable, has both landless adventurers and administrative gameplay, its basically the Rome DLC. If you are interested in playing Byz, get this.
I enjoyed Khans of the Steppe, does have some current shittyness around the Siberian Permafrost modifier and its way too focused on the Mongols despite them not beign relevant for 2/3 start dates but the gameplay is fun and definitely superior to the steppe just being tribal bullshit even if now Turkic tribes are way too Mongol in theming. Nomads are powerful, too powerful probably but at least interesting to contend with and fun to play.
Tours and Tournaments is okay, the events are interesting enough and you can go through them, but its probably not worth $30 bucks.
The rest are pretty shit. Royal Court and Legends of the Dead are some of the worst expansions in terms of value though I guess if you really like the 3D models being in a scene Royal Court could be worth something. But still both are hardly deserving of the title of Expansion.
Event Packs are complete ass, Flavor packs are okay. Legacy of Persia is entirely 867 focused which is meh. Northern Lords is pretty meh. I do enjoy Fate of Iberia though I have not played in a while.

It's a decently done and surprisingly big-budget FMV drama but it has a few caveats. It has some weird always online anticheat. Most of the choices will result in you dying instantly and the only major branching is at the very end to set up a sequel. Two of the main guys end up in love triangle with the mc but at least if you can choose in the fluff options to be simply using them and the romance isn't that big part of it. Also rather large portion of the time is decicated to two star-crossed lovers type of scenarios. If you're not allergic to some yume tropes it's nice and rather cheap experience.

I want something akin to what CK2 has with the '[LMM] Powerful Vassals Factions' mod.
It lets powerful vassals within your ream, like certain dukes with either lots of military backing or wealthy ones start their own personal factions, like, for example, "Faction of Duke Roger", then people who either like him or a his friends / allies within the realm can join it, but also those who don't necessarily agree with him, but who think he has great ideas of what should be implemented, and they will usually have a specific goal or mission in mind they want to achieve in like the next 5~10 years.

They can choose between Glory, Prosperity or Faith, all of which have their specific subsections of what said powerful vassals wish to achieve:

Some of my more interesting playthroughs in CK2 that I still remember mainly seemed to revolve around playing as a republic, usually Patrician for a while until I end up as a Doge, then manage to just basically bribe all my bishops and sometimes family members into the College of Cardinals, so there was obviously some degree of complexity or at least a bit of an interesting system to play around with there as opposed to other shit.

I'm not sure if it was cause of a mod or something like that, but in CK2, I recall Patricians and Doges not really inquiring any penalties like loss of Piety or being ousted as Adulterers if they shagged random women pregnant while they were unmarried. I don't know whether it's cause they were not considered proper "nobility" or anything like that, and basically had to in most cases pay dowry to marry noble women, but I always found it kind of weird, though at the same time sort of fun to fuck around with that. You could basically just stay unmarried the whole game, fuck random women while cucking other rulers, denouncing whatever bastard that would spawn and only acknowledging the good ones, then legitimizing only the best possible ones to be future heirs.

Wonder if, whenever they decide to do Republic for CK3, if they would implement it like that in there too, where you're not exactly proper nobility, but more like gentry, I guess. So some of those issue don't hit you as hard, and you can basically just fuck around like that there as well. Would be pretty interesting.

I've done that before when starting as a Viking, just raiding and pillaging shit then conquering a bunch of land and forming a petty kingdom before switched off to one of the Christian kings in the area, seducing the settled Viking's wife then cucking him, waging war when he imprisoned his own wife so I can rescue her, caught him during battle so now HE was in prison. Had him killed while in there then married his beautiful Asatru widow while she happily let me just take over every part of the land that her children from him were now owning due to his death.

In return, I never demanded her conversation. Just let her stay Asatru while owning a bunch of temple holdings and having her own duchy to rule over. She gave me many children with good traits after that, but I didn't go any further with that playthrough than this. Regardless, it was pretty interesting the way that the whole thing went down.

I'm not sure if it makes them any less boring, but cultures are at least somewhat distinct at least due to Traditions I guess. Some more than others.
Greeks for example are going to be a lot more notable than Anglo-Saxons even before taking into account their own government, while Sumpa over in Tibet may as well not exist beyond being something for the Bodpa to culture-convert, though that's more a consequence of their only distinction, a generic gender-equality tradition, being rendered mostly pointless by all the neighboring faiths already being gender equal already. You can reform Tibetan buddhism or the already-reformed Bon faith to accommodate it if you wanted to make all non-sumpa vassals female dominated for seduction memes I guess. But there's still a fair number of "you have to make them interesting yourself" cultures and faiths. More to do with them than CK2 at least.
