There's probably confusion arising here from what exactly cuts we're talking about.
50% of everything? Definitely not. But they might do 50% of youtube revenue (after Google's cut, which is 30%). That actually is also the default Holo cut, although I'd imagine long term and big name talents can negotiate it.
In Holo, we know that talents get a small cut from cover-funded merch (acrylic stando, Enreco cards, their "everyday" stocked generic stuff like stickers on the shop.) and they get a much much bigger cut, almost certainly the lion's share of profit, from their self-funded merch (birthdays and anniversaries). as far as I know, they have to put up the manufacturing costs for themselves. Which is, of course, worth it because they'll make a lot more profit.
It's the second part that Nijisanji might not do. Because they seem to do shitty generic merch even for their birthdays, most of the time, even for big guys like Kuzuha. Lots of cheap enamel pins and acrylic panels. Exceptions and custom merch exist, but are rarer. Talents may not have the opportunity to do custom and self-funded merch like Dino Gura or Nerissa's fat fuck run or the MILF hats.
