I agree, and I believe it is broad by intention. Creating a space where the ones on the fringe can belong isn't the same as a space where everyone is just like you. I'll take a freak-friendly normie over someone who checks all the other boxes, but doesn't care about unity or have the time of day for the hardcore freaks.

Changed, but not dead. There is a huge difference between a horror scene, and a horror scene that accepts ryona. I've personally met many cool horror vtubers who've gotten hard filtered because we were watching an old Comma vod or something. I'm fine with people debating what is and isn't a /freak/ in a civil manner, but not when people take for granted the fact that our existence is a privilege and not a right.
I will concede to you that I don't personally feel very connected to the chuubas who get posted here nowadays being a bit of an out of touch oldfag myself, but it makes me happy to see how active the thread has become. People making schedules, watching streams together and sharing their favourite moments, in that sense it does feel like the good old days. It certainly beats the fuck out of that post-ban dry period where it was like four or five of us posting the same old JP chuuba art thread after thread just desperately trying to find a reason to exist at all.
/meat/ could never and will never exist on it's own again, but it will always have it's place in /freak/ as long as we keep it alive ourselves!
