This happened around the same time last year too. The only actual humans at YouTube is a team of six guys in Delhi so they're constantly fucking things up.

If Youtube AI thinks you're under 18, they won't let you watch youtube until you upload your government ID. This includes UK, Australia and the USA. So lots of people rather just not watch youtube than have to upload their government ID.

So far I haven't been hit, but if Youtube did force me to upload my ID, I'd rather just stop watching youtube altogether. Fuck this bullshit. This is why everyone has taking a huge hit in viewer count.

It's not the ID thing, it's the engagement changes they announced at some point last month. Basically you have to be an "active" viewer for it to count towards CCV. It's not been fully explained what they mean by active but people have assumed it means liking the stream and regularly chatting during it.
