A vtuber is a performer. Some are more authentic than others but they're all playing a character and that character is the avatar on screen. When you watch a vtuber, you're watching a caricature of that person. Many viewers even fall in love with that caricature. Learning that it's all a façade isn't just damaging to the vtuber but also dangerous as well as the type of people who fall for anime women online aren't the most mentally stable. They can and will stalk you and potentially assault you if you give them enough private information. The mentally ill are not to be trusted with personal information because they lack the morality to not use it to hurt those they feel have hurt them.
Vtubing was heavily influenced by the Japanese idol scene and carries many aspects from it including the fandom of lonely desperate men who worship them. If you know anything about the idol scene then you'll know that male fans get violent and viscous if the idol "betrays" them.
