I spoke to another person messing with mmaudio on civitai and they had a few tips. If the video doesn't clearly show the penetration the plaps probably won't work right, and it greatly prefers 24fps. The first behavior I had already noticed but figured I was just getting shit seeds, and after interpolating to 32 fps and then converting down to 24 I can say that works way better too. On forge it's more ram intensive than Vram for me for some reason (I think implementation still needs some work), on my 3060 it uses around 7-8gb vram and 24 gb Ram. It was trained for 1328*1328 but you can push it up all the way to wallpaper sized gens (1920*1080) without any anatomy issues from my tests

1. I ran into very similar issues when I started using tags with values far higher than one, you've got two artists at 1.5 and numerous feature tags (as well as some even at two.) Have you considered trying to retain the same style but with more moderate numbers? I was able to get a desired result with some tags even as low as 0.2 but admittedly took a lot of experimentation with prompt A/Bing.

2. Have you tried using CFG++ or dynamic thresholding? Wai might not handle CFG++ very well but dynamic thresholding should certainly help out with shading / features.

My original stylemix was just "konno tohiro, (mogudan:0.65), nuezou".
In general Mogudan's art tends to take over the image, so I need the two other artists to be at higher weights comparatively.
At some point I had a model that didn't know Mogudan that well, so I upped the weights using the same multiplier difference.
Sometimes I forget to try those lower weights for the artist tags when I try newer models, but I have been trying it now with the Noob models I'm testing.
Chances are I'll get a better result if I just mix the weights differently, but despite these models all sharing the base datasets for Illustriious - it's like they all have wildly different interpretations of the same artists.

The way I prompt besides trying to avoid useless tags is generally by piling on the tag weights until I consistently get what I want.
Due to my high weight usage I'm not used to seeing anything even show up if I try to use lower weights in the same image.

CFG++ I assume is going to make the prompt adhere more to my tags, without causing the issues that high values of normal CFG do?

I look up artists I like from doujinshi, twitter or rule34/sankaku complex(shithole site now)/booru - on danbooru.
If they have less than 200+ images I grab a lora for them.
If they have more than 200+ images I prompt their artist tags and play with the weights.

Personally I browse civitai for styles every once in a while and pay attention to specific artists that stand out. Sometimes those artists are already known by the model but I prefer to mix in a couple artist loras when genning.

One fun thing I like to do for finding new artists is that I'll pick some tag out of the image I'm prompting and go search related artists on danbooru

Originally I did it since I thought it helped understand the tag better and I still sort of thing this, especially for composition-related tags or if there are artists with an extremely high similarity %. But now I mostly just do it to see random new artists I've never heard of before and click through a few / test them to see if I like the style

I just got some list of danbooru artists sorted by number of images and genned the same seed with ~1500 of them.
Then never looked at it again and rotate the same ~10 artists I know because I'm too lazy.
But if anyone need a fuckton of bad Chloe pictures with different artist tags, let me know.

I start with a artist I want to have the most effect as the first highest weighted tag and then add more artist depending on what I want to adjust (bigger breast, mature face, backgrounds etc) and then add some buffer stabilizers artist at the end (usually the artist that have a lot of art on danbooru 1k+) then I play with the weights of these till it works and looks right.

thank you all, you've given some interesnig ideas to test out. i hope i can wrangle something good out of it. usually my gens either look like too flat anime, or too pseudo-real. i've still have a ways to go.
side note: does tagging in noob models work differently? i'm noticing there seems to be a "proper" way, whereas in illustrious i could just put tags and weights and i would usually get what i expected

i meant more ordering. on illu (and before) i could just go "masterpiece, best quality, <whatever i want to gen in whatever order>", but on noob (i'm testing a checkpoint called Sih someone posted in the previous thread) and what seems to work is "<thing the characters are doing>, <characters> <background>, masterpiece, best quality". i need to do more testing on this though, so far i've been playing with and refining one prompt that's variations on a core action

Just remember that token strength within a 75 token block is in descending order. You can mes with this manually by applying a strength modifier or using BREAK to create a new block.
Also masterpiece best quality is like a relic of SD1.5/NAI1, should be placebo now.

Hmm from what I know both noob and illustriious recommend, character, artist, quality tags then the rest of the prompt. It makes sense to me since the earlier the tag the more weight it has so having chracter and artist 1st makes them more accurate.
