Not at all: It fosters an environment in which everyone can say what he thinks. Without having to fear for personal consequences, when his thoughts are "unaligned" with what the people in control have deemed the right thing to think and say.
That said, unless you aren't thinking what the people in control have deemed right, you don't need anonymity: Simply say it out in the open and collect governmental NGO-funding that is distributed around-the-clock "to protect OurDemocracy".
So anonymous sites tend to attract "unaligned" people, which may make it look like political activism, which it is not.
Been here since '05: Chanology was really something on a scale unimaginable before it.
I didn't participate myself, because while I don't like Scientology either, something felt extremely off about the whole thing. Same thing with Occupy.
Those were completely aligned things: There was ZERO need for "Anonymous" to show up.
