When John wrote the Book of Revelation, did he see tall buildings, iPhones, technology, etc? Will those things even exist by the time of the apocalypse?

This would imply that everyone will have a way to see something only happening in one specific place, which's been the case for years now.

There's also the "knowledge shall increase" bit, a possible reference to the internet, and while that's not specific from Revelations, it's prophecy for the same time.

St. John would not likely fall into that category because he wouldn't be contemporary with people who held that notion. He also wouldn't be dumbfounded and mystified by people eating with spoons and forks because people have been eating with spoons since about 30,000 BC.
