Eastern religion, specifically Buddhism, is pretty much just philosophical monism. It's a thought process where we have everything we need to know within. However, it doesn't apply to the reality we're living in. We don't consist of the whole universe or multiverse, our capabilities are limited which requires us to reach outwards. This is where the scientific method comes in.

With these beliefs you get gurus like Osho driving 93 Rolls-Royces with your money and you see nothing wrong with it.
