Yes, but in a way you wouldn't expect.
What I realized is that everyone is much more capable of being aware than they seem. You'd expect to become very compassionate if you could see the world from another's eyes. However, what happened is that I saw that people constantly lie to themselves and work hard to fuck themselves over in order to not face the work of getting their shit in order. People are lazy, victimistic, hypocritical pieces of shit, and I've seen it from inside.

In short, it made me realize the average NPC is a fucking god incarnate, and they squander every opportunity to create Heaven on Earth just to feel a little more pleasure, or to avoid the most minute inconveniences (this later snowballs into terrible torment, though).

Powers that be? Incarnation trap? Bullshit. People deserve every single bit of suffering they bring onto themselves (inborn circumstances are a topic for another thread).

The reality is that those people DO have an inner speech, they just aren't aware enough to realize. If you practice what I call "void meditation" (keeping your inner speech silent), you eventually start hearing other people's inner speech. They say things like "tell me I'm pretty" while stepping in front of you and saying "hi" while wearing a new dress (actual IRL example), or just any other thought you can catch yourself having in your own inner monologue at any given time.
The problem with that 75% of people is not that they don't have an inner speech, but that they lack the translation layer to become aware of it. After all, the source of that inner speech is non-verbal. The words you experience when you "hear" your own inner speech are generated by a layer in your psyche dedicated to that translation. The source, and the thoughts themselves (non-verbal) exist even in animals.

I would feel compelled to understand how I can read minds and, if it was something innate that I couldn't control about myself, help other people to read minds in the same way, or failing that, at least explain how they could shield themselves from my perception, or failing that, at least explain the situation to them and extend my sympathies.
