guilt is actually a delight to God, an act of love, a testament to our goodness.

the universe is very large and very strange, and yet God’s favorite thing in all of it is our fear that one mortal error might put the whole design in jeopardy. as if we could.

That's the thing most newfangled liberal theologians cannot conceptualise. That suffering brings us closer to the divine. It humbles us.

The potential energies for vacuum decay are potentially in our reach if we get tokamaks to work. God is not wrong to be concerned about what He is concerned about.

The catholic church is more like a framework or a conduit to sainthood. It can also be a set of obstacles between you and God. Since He's always talking to us. You might just need to listen.

Fusion power only gets you up to 20% of mass energy at the absolute theoretical best. If black holes frame-dragging the cosmos, or undergoing a ring-down event, have never spawned a false vacuum decay before then I bet nothing will.

God is more worried about us becoming lazy and choosing the path of least resistance instead of branching out and forgiving everyone.

Guilt is a weapon used by the forces of darkness (OP). They don’t feel guilt.

You are right that it can be used as a weapon against us, but wrong in that its supposed to be discarded away.

There are two ways to live in this universe.

the way which creates the most total good, at the cost of vulnerability. and the way which succeeds by exploiting vulnerability.

In a sense every eukaryote is dedicated to the former way, because we represent the triumph of a local commensalism over individual interest on the terms of the latter— we get a global survival advantage out of a local truce.

the fact that our morals sometimes make it more difficult to survive is proof they are truly good. there is not much commendable about doing a right thing when it is also the tactically correct thing. when the good thing is also the hard thing: that is when the righteous are separated from the lost.
