Here is how Thiel probably views the story of One Piece.

Luffy goes around restoring traditional hierarchies and dethroning the World Government. The pirates are basically Jacobite privateers, seeking to abolish the liberal regime and bring back the rightful king. Constantly, Luffy is protecting kingdoms, restoring thrones, and furthering the political independence of local communities. The other side of it, which confuses a lot of people, is that the Marines are better people than the pirates are on average. Your average pirate is a total scumbag; the Strawhats and handful of other crews are the exception. When you realize that the traits that make someone a good, honest person will also naturally lead them to orient themselves to protect whatever the status quo is, the story starts to make sense. Think about Socrates' suggestion, repeated in multiple different forms throughout Plato's dialogues, that ultimately we owe our lives to the "city".

I love One Piece - I've been reading it since I bought an issue of shonen jump at a school book fair back in 2003 and I blitzed through it - yeah sure themes of liberation and overcoming unjust authority and power structures have always been there; but at its core it's a story about Luffy and Zoro achieving their distinct but mutually aligned dreams, and Nami navigating them to their destinations - everything else is in service of that.

Honestly I couldn't give less of a shit about a lot of the deeper themes since I don't need these themes spoonfed to me like a baby and it's obvious Oda is mainly utilizing these themes to make the story feel more impactful, grand in scale, and personally relatable to our real lives.

One Piece isn't a political manifesto - and certainly not one for dollar-store revolutions that just shuffle power from one cabal of fat compradors to another gang of quisling parisites. The key thing to fighting these holy knights and imu seems to be supreme haki. Usopp is kinda unique in sense that he's mostly observation haki user. So in my theory, he might not be so good at fighting the holy knights, but maybe he has insanely good observation haki that will let him predict the moves imu will try to do on the domi reversi game, and his observation haki will be important part of the game? I can't imagine other ways to use his observation haki to full benefit in elbaph other than the domi reversi game, unless there's some scene where something happens or something.
