This list is a deliberate attempt to confuse people by mixing a few orthodox things with a pile of condemned heresy and occultism. Both the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches condemn this.

The reason this list is so deceptive is that it mixes legitimate Apostolic traditions (St. Bonaventure for Catholics, St. Gregory Palamas for Orthodox) with Gnostic and occult systems that are totally incompatible with Christianity.

Gnosticism, Sophiology, and Traditionalism (Perennialism) are all formal heresies. In fact, Sophiology was explicitly condemned by the Eastern Orthodox Church itself.

Rosicrucianism, Anthroposophy, Martinism, and Swedenborgianism are not 'esoteric Christianity'; they are separate occult religions.

Divine Love (Padgett) is just spiritism.

The most important thing that unites Catholics and Orthodox against all of these groups is Apostolic Succession. Both our Churches trace our authority and valid sacraments back to Christ and the Apostles. None of the groups on this list can do that. They are man-made systems, which is why they are rejected.

>This list is a deliberate attempt to confuse people by mixing a few orthodox things with a pile of condemned heresy and occultism. Both the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches condemn this.
The list is a neutral compilation of different topics related to Christian Esotericism, I don't believe in half of it either but the topics are there to be broad enough for various types of conversations
>Gnosticism
Yes it's a heresy, but the Christian Gnosis in the list is the tradition of Clement and Origen of Alexandria
>Sophiology
It is controversial but only in Russia and that controversy comes from a misunderstanding, thinking Sophia is some sort of fourth Hypostasis when no one claimed her to be
>Traditionalism
Not the biggest fan of Traditionalist Perrenialism myself, but that doesn't stop many members to be very knowledgeable, but usually, the Christians who were part of the current tended to leave it after some time
>Rosicrucianism
Original Rosicrucianism was just authentic Lutheran Esotericism, modern Rosicrucianism are made up of various scams
>Anthroposophy
Yeah not a fan either, but I have some respect for Steiner
>Martinism
Originally authentic, now a scam, also look up Joseph de Maistre
>Swedenborgianism
Yeah
>Divine Love
I have no idea what that is, an anon added it

How, genuinely, should a Christian perceive Halloween? I originally believed All Saints Day was inspired by the pagan practice, until I discovered it used to be on various dates across the liturgical calendar, including during May and Easter - so the idea it "copied" from the pagan idea of the boundaries between the world of the living and the dead is a myth propagated by wiccans. Should I be more on my guard from divinations during this time? Should I even participate in pumpkin carving?

These threads need to get even more esoteric. When are we finally gonna combine Hesychast practice with ritual? Why is no one looking at ancient Christian grimoires and practicing Hesychast style prayer in the areas it says to do so before hand?
This is such an obvious thing but I've never seen anyone in the thread experiment with this.

>“And in this [sight], he showed a little thing the quantity of a hazelnut, lying in the palm of my hand as it seemed to me, and it was as round as any ball. I looked therein with the eye of my understanding, and thought: “What may this be?” And it was answered generally thus: “It is all that is made.” I marveled how it might last, for it seemed to me it might suddenly have fallen into nought for its littleness. And I was answered in my understanding: “It lasteth and ever shall, because God loveth it. And so hath all things being by the love of God.”

Grimoires already talk about ascetic practices as a prerequisite for practicing what's in them, but grimoires are worthless, the only "good" ones, Liber Honorius and Ars Notoria, are just about the Beatific Vision and knowledge of the Liberal Arts respectively, today we comfuse magic as the path to God, but for Agrippa, magic is the result of the path to God, and Paracelsus explains that a true magus doesn't need any rituals, just his imagination

What is called Hermeticism now are various groups that have no idea what they're talking about, then there's the Hermeticism of the Renaissance which is overblown, only Lodovico Lazarreli is a real "Hermeticist" in that era", si there's only antique Hermetism, which is a separate religion from Christianity, you can read the Corpus Hermeticum for that, but you won't understand the historical context of it

I still don't understand how chi ro is supposed to be recognized by anyone as short for christ, I don't believe that's what this symbol meant. Names were never abbreviated like that and nobody has used CHR as short for jesus. Plus he didn't speak greek at all. I dont believe that Constantines vision was of a christian cross, he clearly saw a pagan sun cross and the christian dream interpreter lied or misunderstood. The whole story around him is refabricated, just like the whole jesus mythos around some loudmouth judean schizo disrupting both parties governance.

Anyway Celsus was always right.

The staurogram existed before the XP
Constantine was of Illyrian descent and was born in Nissus, today Nis in Serbia, the Illyrians were Latinized but before that they were Hellenized, Jerome who was Illyrian as well was a Polyglot, he knew his tongue, Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and since Constantine moved the capital to the east, while he grew up in a Latinized environment he probably knew Greek as well, even if just a bit, like Justinian centuries later, who was also Illyrian
Constantine's beliefs are a bit mysterious, but from what you can gaher from him, Julian the Apostate and some fragments, Illyrians might have had some sort of Henotheism with a Sun god at the center, because after the Crisis of the 3rd Century most Roman Emperors came from Illyria, as by then they made up most of the Military, Roman religion seems to heavily shift into having Helios/Sol Invictus/Apollo as their central deity, which us unlike the Greek focus on Zeus and the original Roman focus on Quirinius, Jupiter and Mars, that's also why Julian the Apostate who was Illyrian and schooled in Neoplatonism wanted to replace Christianity with a Neoplatonism where Helios is synonymous with the One
So Constantine also probably associated Christianity and Jesus with his Henotheistic beliefs
>Anyway Celsus was always right.
The reason you know Celsus is because Origen refuted him, and to do so he had to quote him

Evangelicals and Charismatics have dozens of reported miracles as well, Anglicanism and Lutheranism is just much more obscure as they don't have that many followers in Europe, and the Anglican and Lutheran countries are secular now with a large amount of non-religious people
Jakob Böhme, Johann Georg Gichtel, Emmanuel Swedenborg, John Pordage, all have interesting stories connected to them which can be considered miraculous

most of the shit OP lists is just thinly veiled masonry
there is absolutely no reason at all to associate the desert fathers or Clement with that garbage
they would in fact denounce it, if they were still on earth

>The Élus Coëns is an esoteric Christian order founded in 1767, with its focus on establishing an invisible church, independent of any earthly structure, to find the path that leads to the hidden knowledge of nature in anticipation of the coming destruction of the material Church.

The goal of masonry (in the form we know it today) has always been the destruction of the Catholic church.
Before it took the form we know of in modernity, after the protestant "reformation" and the subsequent termination in construction of the gothic cathedrals the original and true Masons occupied themselves with, this wasn't the case.

But the end of their real work in construction forced them to open their doors to aristocrats and wealthy merchants to remain solvent, who had a different kind of construction project in mind.
Real craftsmen have an affinity for work with natural substance of stone and wood, whereas this new and monied blood had always been more concerned with bending men to their will. Social manipulation, domination.
Instead of stonework, they would peddle influence, and instead of great churches they would build unholy edifices of men locked together with blood oaths as mortar in conspiracy. Reshape society itself according to their whim, fashion men to their end as if they were just another brick in the wall. Chip away the slough, smoothe out the rough edges, so to speak. In the end the only legacy of true stonemasonry left in the organization were the mere trappings of symbolism and innuendo.
From reshaping a stone according to a geometric design, to the reshaping of men and society at large according to certain principles in the creation of a new world order.
The grand lodge was formed primarily to neutralize the activity of the Jesuits.

24 You shall make an altar of earth unto me, and you shall offer upon it your holocausts and peace offerings, your sheep and oxen, in every place where the memory of my name shall be: I will come to thee, and will bless thee.

25 And if thou make an altar of stone unto me, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones: for if thou lift up a tool upon it, it shall be defiled.

...

1 And Moses with the ancients of Israel commanded the people, saying: Keep every commandment that I command you this day.

2 And when you are passed over the Jordan into the land which the Lord thy God will give thee, thou shalt set up great stones, and shalt plaster them over with plaster,

3 That thou mayst write on them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over the Jordan: that thou mayst enter into the land which the Lord thy God will give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as he swore to thy fathers.

4 Therefore when you are passed over the Jordan, set up the stones which I command you this day, in mount Hebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster:

5 And thou shalt build there an altar to the Lord thy God, of stones which iron hath not touched,

6 And of stones not fashioned nor polished: and thou shalt offer upon it holocausts to the Lord thy God:

7 And shalt immolate peace victims, and eat there, and feast before the Lord thy God.

8 And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law plainly and clearly,

9 And Moses and the priests of the race of Levi said to all Israel: Attend, and hear, O Israel: This day thou art made the people of the Lord thy God.

Christianity in the first centuries A.D was dependant on the Paradosis, the Tradition handed down by the Apostles to the Church, and that Paradosis was a Gnosis, a Knowledge above any rationalization, it came down from up high, that's why Ignatius of Antioch wrote that he had comprehended the Powers and Principalities, he was taken up and came back down like the Prophets, by the time of Origen the Paradosis had to be written down, and began to also exist inside of Theology so that it can be somewhat grasped

>masonry
depends on what you mean by masonry... its most obvious characteristic probably is that you take a very general oath that ends up putting the masonic organization above your free will (and the Word of the Bible)

other than the oath, there is nothing wrong with "masonic-type" organizations as they are an off-shoot of living in cities
both pre-Christian Judaism and Christianity are by excellence a city-linked religions (contrast it to Hinduism which is exclusively rural: no matter how big their "cities" grow, they will still technically be towns)
since we are today are living in the "global village" (AM radio, satellite TV, internet, smartphones...) no wonder that both European institutions and Christianity are being eroded: no more cities where you can find great neighbors; even freemasonry died out because of this, in a VERY short time-frame (1950-2010s)
in my opinion we should have drawn the line at steam trains: both city friendly and saves the lives of horses

They talk about how much of what is seen as "esoteric" today is a revival of the ancient Christian view of the cosmos, that became submerged after the Enlightenment and the Scientific Revolution. Groups like the Rosicrucians were not trying to reject science, but to marry it to a more ancient spiritual view of reality. They were not just about looking back on the past but interested in building an alternative modernity.

How do all of you reconcile with the reality that organized Christianity is a firmly exoteric tradition, and that it's almost untenable to detach from its Judaic roots as a "ritual-based religion" where the most important thing is upholding ritualism?

I feel like there is a grave contradiction in holding all of these beliefs, for instance, and affirming the Old Testament. There's nothing esoteric about that. It's the standard Near Eastern Storm God mythos with the Jewish version of the Code of Hammurabi stapled onto a recounting of history.
Anonymous No.41397213 [Report] >>41397233
>>41396975
Can't speak for anybody else but I'm trying to make time to learn Hebrew and I am incorporating as many rituals from the time of Jesus Christ (e.g. blessing of food) as I can. The ritual-based aspect you mention is something I find lacking in Christianity (or at least Catholicism), and I'm not sure it can be replaced by the ritual of work (like the infamous "Protestant work ethic").

There is another thing: Jews loved, and love, to learn. And to teach. That agrees with me. And they are probably the only group on Earth that consistently and unerringly respect their elders.

I think you raise a very important question.
I could say many "bad things" about the Jews. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to say a few good ones. The world would be a sadder place if I didn't see from time to time Jews running on the street, covered from head to shin, by one of those prayer shawls.

I want to clarify that I don't have a problem with the Jews as a people. It's just that my feeling is that Christianity really isn't an "esoteric" religion as understood by its "orthodoxy" (defined, for me, by any Christianity that is Nicaean in origin.) It's whole thing is exotericism, the outward display of religion. Even the "mystics" are very curated.

I have a difficulty accepting the line between the OT and the NT. I do believe in the Christ, but I'm unconvinced that he was the Messiah as predicted by the Jewish scriptures. If anything, he seems like the "Savior" predicted by the various mystic cults of the Roman World leading up to this. He didn't fulfill their hopes of some great Jewish revolt followed by an eternal Davidic Kingdom, but he did fulfill the prophecies of other people that there would be someone who would come and bring about a unification of God and Man.
Anonymous No.41397494 [Report] >>41397507
>>41397233
I'm far from being an expert, in fact I have little to no idea about the concepts of Messianic Judaism (I'd be grateful if you cold enlighten me a little bit), yet I feel that the moment of the Incarnation and the wide adoption of Christianity by the Roman elites, both civil and military, lends credence to some of the points you bring up.

This is speculation, but I'd assume that if it weren't so, Rome would have collapsed a lot faster and more violently, taking down a lot of other kingdoms with it (including the Jews, who barely survived the destruction of the Second Temple).

On the other hand, seeing how people take things lightly nowadays makes me think that we are in a new "tower of Babel" situation... it started with the uncontrolled spread of technology (with printing and clocks) and now we have A.I.

I don't think there's an issue with the Old Testament as a piece of mythic understanding. I think there's a degree of "truth" scattered in all things. But I'm not convinced that Christ incarnated because of some Jewish prophecies given to them by their god.
>Messianic Judaism
Their view is that the Messiah is a man from the Davidic line who will rise up, lead the Jews to victory and unify all of the 12 Tribes, and overthrow the goyim and install an Earthly Kingdom from which the "World to Come" will be initialized.

I did not link the reincarnation to prophecies, although maybe I'm closer to understanding how that would influence the Christian-Jewish relations with regards to the Messiah.

So you think that the god represented in the OT was "evil"? Ain't that a bit unfair (in lack of a better word)? After all there may as well be as many "goyim" among those who call themselves Jews as among those who call themselves Christians...

I meditated over the night upon your questions and answers, and have concluded that I have no idea what are you talking about.

I don't really see the need to use such pretentious words as esoteric and exoteric.
1. If there is one person who can judge (or separate) which is which, it's Jesus Christ. That's good enough for me. Otherwise I try to rely on what was given to me. Of course I fail most of the time... but I try to do it less
>"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" Psalm 139:14

2. Is such a distinction stopping almost all Jews and Muslims doing wicked rituals in secret, while pretending otherwise? No, of course not. The hate for Christians, by both groups, is clear evidence (especially the Jewish hatred for Jesus...) that cannot be explained by any other means

As for the Christian (Greek, Russian etc.) Orthodox, well, most of their identity revolves around not being Catholic and not being Protestant. Does that stop people being scammed by gypsies from all kinds of protestant sects, all the time (at least in Europe)? No. But the so-called Orthodox sure like to complain about other peoples' business!

Thank you. I found out that Kurt Vonnegut's argument against organized religion was something similar: we should be against "something" where one man can give another man an excuse (or an order) to hurt a third man.

Well, if a priest pointed at a man and said to me that the Lord commanded me (not even him, but me!) to kill or hurt that man... I'd laugh in his face!

And anybody who would take that priest seriously is a bona fide retard, from whom I would move as far as possible, as fast as possible... which is probably how the proto-semites moved away from the africans... the proto-levantines from the semites... proto-whites from the levantines... and so on until we ran out of space. Atlantis sinking, with each line drawn between the OT and NT at that!

So... does a man's lack of insight and fear of responsibility legitimize him to be against organized religion, whatever that means?

Some of certainly think so, namely Hindus or Muslims:
1. today they are the only ones to profit from the results, as the concept simply does not apply to them... it applies only to the western world where some other organized group (organized atheism?) do all in their power to import them
2. the malicious and low-IQ "split between NT and OT" propaganda is clearly aimed at Christianity
2a. Muslims are the only ones with suicide bombers, mass murder, trucks of peace, daily stabbings; they are also either enamored with communism and globohomo and contradict themselves three times in two sentences ("you wouldnt understand bro," unless you convert)
2b. Hindus have crime as their defacto religion (including scamming, rape, and thugs, infiltrators, cannibals etc.), both in their own country which they managed to transform into the shithole of Earth, and abroad

I got nothing against either, but they need to go back physically, vanish from the internet too, and from the technological landscape especially.
They have proven themselves, now it's time for them to go back home.

Everything was going good this year. I got my finances in order, I got healthy, I repaired relationships with people and I started to seek Jesus Christ in a meaningful way. I pray 5~ a day, I spend much of my free time reading excerpts from the bible and trying to apply them to my own life, I started giving money to people who I thought needed it, and I felt like everything was finally working out.

Last week, I woke up and my wife told me she was leaving me after 10+ years. We had a mostly good relationship, and the past year had been the best since the beginning. She could provide no real reasoning other than saying she felt trapped and needed to leave. We have three kids together, who I take care of, she was the sole provider. She left and I do not know where she went. She took the car, I have no way of making money, no family, no friends. I begged her to just work with me, I told her how the children don't know where their mother is and how this is causing them extreme pain. She simply told me to stop contacting him. I have eaten 3 meals in the last 7 days, I feel like I'm having a heart attack consistently ever moment of the day, and I keep having the worst luck, anything that can go wrong does.

I am keeping it together for my children, that is all I have. I am completely fucked and filled the deepest sadness and grief I could possibly imagine. I am begging God to please see this and please know that I am truly sorrowful for everything I have ever done wrong and I just want to be saved. I have no idea what else to do and I am crippled by anxiety and uncertainty.

That part of Christianity is hotly debated, if the New Testament saw Jesus as just a man and later Church tradition turned him into God, like how the Buddha became more and more divine as time went on in Buddhism, i'd day that Jesus was just a man, but our earliest texts point to a different direction

The cross is no mystery. Its pain. Left to right, bottom to top. Its the beauty in a suffering god. Devil is also all too real. Real and necessary. Just as necessary as a nail to a cross. Happiness, free for all and let no one be forgotten.

Are there any esoteric Christian methods of fighting addiction that any anon here knows of? Now would be an excellent time to share. I'm sick of dope, and I'm sick of being a stinky, filthy, disgusting smoker.

If you want to stop, stop. There's probably some sketchy faith healer in most sizeable towns that could sell you some "esoteric healing" methods, but the best way to get cleaned up is to be honest with yourself and stay focused on wanting to live a better life.

Have you by any chance read Vladimir Solovyov's philosophical works? In his letters, he talked about wanting to reconcile Orthodox and Catholic churches, emphasizing apostolic succession. What's your view on him?

Maybe the bad luck may be for your own good.
Vladimir Solovyov wrote, "The wise saying the worse, the better conforms fully to this life. The pleasure and enjoyment of it are dangerous because they are illusory; unhappiness and grief often appear as the only salvation."

I love the idea of Roman Catholicism (Church of Peter), Eastern Orthodox (Church of John), and Protestantism (Church of Paul), putting aside petty differences and forming a common front.
Anonymous No.41447997 [Report] >>41449758

Solovyov wrote in his letters that Protestants found themselves outside of the Church, while the Orthodox and Catholic were still within the Church. It seems most of the Protestant sects reject the idea of continuous revelation, they aren't willing to accept new ideas outside of (their interpretation of) scriptures.

>putting aside petty differences and forming a common front.

But would you say it's feasible in our times? Or are they unwilling to do that? Will it be enough to present them with a common enemy/threat?

It seems like the biggest obstacle to carrying out Solovyov's vision (and other great ideas) has been the lack of resources, need a lot of funding/money to get a project off the ground.

I have seen God on more than one occasion.
>Mathew 5:8 - Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
I have seen The King of Kings, The Lord of Lords in a vision when I was praying. Perhaps I do in fact have a Pure Heart. Jesus is God, the Word of God.
>John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The Lord Your God, The Holy One of Israel, Your Savior was sitting on the Throne. I saw Christ Jesus and I saw the Father and I have also seen the Holy Spirit and the 7 Spirits of God. I have been blessed with the sight of The Lord Your God, The Holy One of Israel, Our Savior

Very sorry to hear that anon. But pray to St. Lucy as the anon before has already said for comfort and healing. St. Lucy had her eyes blinded and was killed by the sword.

You could pray the Divine Office for her (either 1960 or LOTH) on her feast day, 13th December.

Big if true anon.
Nonetheless, you should be cautious about visions. St. John of the Cross warns of visions and dreams and that we shouldn't put too much of our faith into these visions themselves and not exalt our soul because of them (that is, fall into spiritual pride or spiritual greed, cf. Book Dark Night of the Soul), but keep our faith and trust in Christ and His Bride the Church.

It can't be as the anon claims, for none who have seen the face of God can live (Exodus 33:20). At any rate, one who testifies to their own virtue is likely self-deceived. Those who have a pure heart must be read alongside v3 (poor in spirit), it's not those who're perfect in virtue or blameless, but rather those who are doing some soul-searching,feel unsure about their place in life, feel empty in their hearts.

In the NT, seeing God face to face and as he is was mainly promised to the minority of believers who live in the Great Tribulation. Children who are raised during that time will be deprived of their knowledge of God, they will have no access to the Bible, priests, etc. so for a person to seek after God despite not knowing about him, they would have to be pure in heart.
It's interesting that you bring up St. John of the Cross. Simone Weil was inspired by him, she wrote, "When the inward nature of man, cut off from all carnal influences and deprived of all supernatural light, performs actions which are in conformity with those which light would impose if it were present, there is utter purity."

Usually if a person goes blind, they receive compensation from God and develop other latent faculties. (Tobit 5:10) (spirits are unable to see the living, but they can feel their presence and hear them.)
For real life examples, you can read up on Karl May, John Muir, Gustav Fechner, who were 1. each bedridden, 2. gained insight into creation, and 3. their sight eventually came back.

Why do Gospels contain so many accounts about the healing of those who were blind? Perhaps it's because they were given opportunities to see the world in a new light. (Tobit 3:17) This may be God's way of telling you to devote yourself to interests/fields of study, which you didn't have time for before. Here are three cases from antiquity: "falling sick he became extraordinary learned" / "forced him to the love of Learning" / "seems to have fallen sick advantageously"
