That's not the issue, they dont need western style wrestling. There just isn't enough jeet wrestlers for them to have a big enough talent pool/people who want to compete in other countries. Punjabis/curries would rather their children study than do anything physical.

India produces few athletes. They perform poorly in the Olympics and have a physically weak population relative to the general populations of other national and ethnic groups. The reasons for this are likely a mix of genetics, nutrition, hygiene/health, and cultural values and practices. In the grip strength study from pic related there was a stronger correlation with ethnicity than per capita GDP. Note that the average South Asian male's grip strength is closer to that of females of any ethnic origin than it is to European, Latin American. Persian, or Chinese males. They're drawing from a very small athletic talent pool despite having a very large population and only so many of these athletes are going to specialize in any given fighting sport. I would expect the situation to improve only slightly as more Indians are raised abroad.

It's mostly due to diet. Indians raised in the West can grow pretty tall. They did perfom decently in wrestling in the past.
