if you're worried about brain damage, i'll say this. mma is unironically less dangerous than boxing/kickboxing because theres little padding on the gloves. of course there's still risks of getting brain damage because you are getting punched/kicked in the head but its less damaging than some of the other combat sports.
also if the dextuh had joined mma how well he wouldve done?

he did bjj and was very good at it. also he literally punched that guy who abused his fake daugher's friend. i think he would never become world chempion like perera, khabib, and so on but he would definetly be in a good list and making good money from mma.

Train Thai style, very casual. Lots of sparring but rarely going above ~60% speed power, that's the ideal for longevity. But seriously though even though it is an almost inevitable outcome of regular combat, its not going to happen over night. You can get a good 2 years of sharpening your tools, training reflexes, and getting fit without getting concussed all the time. Unless you are planning on doing some amateur bouts or unless you forecast a bunch of street fights taking place you can still see some real improvement in skills and confidence without ever getting into a gym war

bad advice because i want it for self defense. short story is that i was getting bullied and got punched in the face once. then i became gym rat for 3 years and now everyone is respecting me but if it came down to real fight i think i would freeze. thats why i joined mma.

Then you simply have to suck it up and get used to being being hit in the head while learning to dodge and stuff. In a street fight you will be hit with bare knuckles with no rounds and no ref, if you're going to get past a freeze response it'll be best to do so in the simulated environment of the gym. You could also just focus on grappling, it'll still give you the upper hand in a street fight

Keep training mma. Literally one of the fundamentals is "learning to protect your head"

It is, there is no acceptable level of brain trauma. Repeated small sub concussive hits are just as bad as big KOs, and head gear doesn't help because nothing about It is stopping your brain from swishing around and banging on the inside of your skull

This is the reality

Have you ever been punched in the head before? If not, there's a membrane that tears if it's your first time gettting smacked hard. Really makes head blows seem a lot worse than they actually are.

You got punched in the face exactly once when you were weak. How often do you think you're gonna get punched in the face when you're strong?

My advice for you OP is train just as long and hard as you can in order to have a sanctioned amateur fight. Ideally a win.

That way you can say you did it, look back on it fondly, and have an end goal for the training and also you can step away feeling content
I did the same with boxing for what it's worth and it has instilled a lot of self confidence in me and at least one good memory where I won something official and learnt how to throw punches, take a bit of punishment etc

Unless you're crazy and it's your life, it's best to just set a goal in mind, achieve it and then step away before you get hurt. Risk/reward

Good advice but it won't fix his cucked fight-or-flight response. Stress inoculation through combat sport will help him with the problem he described.

Guns are not a substitute for knowing how to fight unarmed even in areas where using guns for self defense is legal. You should be able to do both.

Well the day finally came, I got my ass beat by a chick in sparring. I think my rib is broken.
It was the last round of the session and I almost asked if we could go light but I didn’t want to be a pussy. I regret that, because she launched right in and shut me down completely.
Most of what she threw was light but she got me with a stiff teep in the ribs. Everything has hurt for going on 5 days now. This bitch put me out of work in under 60 seconds.
Wasn’t hot at the time but I’m hard as fuck writing this now

there's no upside to training with girls, you either hold back so you don't inadvertently kill them and get beat up on or hit them too hard and you're the bad guy now

Then you would have to hard spar to condition your body to not freeze up. After you've conditioned your body to not freeze up, you won't need to hard spar anymore.

You won't get brain damage unless you actually compete regularly. Protect your head if you are that worried, it's just a game. If you lose a sparring because you were too focused on guarding head and got tackled, and nothing bad will happen.

Let me give you some different advice. Don't try to prepare yourself for brain trauma or spend time learning the ultimate self defense system, start trying to avoid being in situations and around gorilla people in general.
Learn to shoot and handle guns, if it ever really came down to it that's the best kind of violence to be somewhat prepared for (psychologically, and muscle memory wise). On the other hand, almost every situation that involves you getting punched in the face can be avoided.

Yes. However, sometimes you need to fight for the privilege of drawing, orienting, and firing your weapon and running around an IDPA course with his fellow autists isn't going to do as much for freezing upon confrontation as actually physically fighting his fellow autists would.

>Not afraid to get hit
Boxing, muay thai

>Afraid to get hit
BJJ

Literally just go to a BJJ gym, learn how to grapple, and you'll likely never get punched in the face while training. Grappling is far more effective than striking anyway, and since you've got a base in weight training, it'll serve you well. Just don't be too disappointed because it'll take you like 6 months to actually see noticeable gains because it's a slowburn martial art. Once you can kinda start to "understand" it, that's when you ACTUALLY start to advance quickly.
