I never learned anything besides an ollie. I have been considering getting back into it. I was a Walmart board scrub so idk what a good board would be.

I really tried, it was peak popularity when I was a kid but I couldn't do anything with the damn thing
I was so jealous of all the other kids doing tricks and I could barely Ollie

Later I would come to find out my deck was a size 10 and that's just much too fucking large for a 9 year old

I did learn when I was young, but I was scared of falling and too pussy to wear a helmet because I didn't want to look lame, so I never progressed much past ollies and dropping in quarter pipes.

Fifteen years later and it's been about a year since I picked it back up, I have zero qualms about being the 30+ years old wearing a helmet and sometimes full pads (and surprise, turns out no one at the parks gives a shit either) and it only took me about two weeks to be better than I ever was as a teen.

There's some stuff that I'm probably never going to try because I can't hurt myself too much for my job - skating large stairs and handrails mostly - but still feels amazing desu

Learned how to skateboard, which then made it easier to learn how to surf, which then later on made it easier to learn how to snowboard.

Never got into the fancy shit though, I just like to roll on down the road.

my tip would be to drop the "to" before 50 and "box" before ledge, faggete

I practiced skate when I was a teen because two friends liked it and did it too. And no, I don't particularly like it besides. Also they became jerks and they like strangers now. I only have bad memories with that period of my life.

Yes. Was too poor to get into it really young and had no one to teach me, by middle/high school I was an honor student and only burnout kids skated at our local park. Now I'm almost 30, sucks.
Anonymous No.243257 >>243343
I actually got back into skateboarding after a 25 year break. I don't want to do any fancy shit, I'd hate to get broken bones and get laid off. I mostly want to get good at traversal and typical ollie on to a sidewalk stuff.
Anonymous No.243300
Yeah.
I really regret not doing any sport at all. My parents never really pushed me.
All the shit I was interested in either required friends or money and I had neither. My school didn't really have casual sports it was all just the hyper competitive teams.
But in general its too hot that no kid really spends that much time outside here.

I wish I had something like skateboarding. I'm too old for the more recent revival but too young to be part of the first hype train in pop culture. So it was never really in my life.
Anonymous No.243304
Skating is the sort of thing you need a good environment, friends etc to make the most of it

It's a time and place hobby

That's also in my head now. 33 years, never could do the ollie as a teenager. But I really miss having that board with cool design and wheels. The sound of it, etc. Really weird probably. But I'm thinking so often of just getting another skateboard just to cruise around in town. But I'm 2 meter tall and probably really look like a retard then. But who cares really. Also I have a 1 year old son, so I could learn a bit over the years and when he is the right age buy him a board too and we could enjoy it together <3

Sometimes I look like a total kook in front of the teens at the park but then I remember I'm an engineer who makes six figures and they'll probably still be flipping burgers when they're my age so it's all good

I wonder if deep down all the good skaters think we're cringeworthy fags . I assume most of them are indifferent but I get the idea that normies see an adult learning how to skate as someone with a mid life crisis or a manchild wanting to look cool again. I personally think skating is just too fun, I just don't see myself doing something boring as shit like golf or tennis

We don't care. I mean I'm not "good" in the way I describe good skaters but I can hang at most parks and spots

I started riding BMX and honestly I probably feel like you all feel, it's hard being a full blown adult with NO chops at the park
Anonymous No.243870

Yeah but I tell myself most people don't give a shit
And I see adults at my park who can hardly ollie and I guess they sometimes feel like I judge them but I'm not at all. If anything I think it's cool that they're learning and it gives me confidence knowing I'm not the worst skater at the park

is it too late to start at damn near 25? i think it would be cool, not even looking to do tricks or anything, i just want to get really damn proficient/fast at pushing and steering. i think it would be cool to roll instead of walk sometimes.

i am just on the old side for this, and tall/heavy which is a really shit combo for balance. could i improve this? yes. it's just a question of whether or not doing so on a moving object is a good idea

Depends if you have the time and energy. Where are you going with it. Do you really love it

In all honesty if you're tall and heavy and don't know how to fall you're begging to fuck yourself up, twist ankle, break wrist etc. maybe even break both wrists lmfao
