Ground game is for when you can afford to be on the ground, and that's not usually the case in the real world where friends and rando's will stomp your head in while you're trying to roll around on the ground. You need to have skill in both stand up and ground fighting.

Right, my point is that stand up fighting should be trained as should ground work for real world situations, and while ground work is arguably better for competition, it's usually the last resort for non-competition defense.
