I saw some people absolutely gleefully cheering when they realized Marina was being abused. It's usually the women. The men tend to blame the parents, although they often lack the empathy to realize that the parents might be in a similarly shitty situation. Of course, none of this makes the behavior of these characters permissable, but you should be able to differentiate between a bad action and a bad person and what the causes for each one is. Especially in a fictional story, which allows us to get a much broader perspective than would be possible in real life.

This show is the unexpected comedy of the season. I couldn't hold my sides while watching Takopi's retarded shittakes about Shizuka's life and it's reaction to finding her swinging by her neck at home like she was just playing or something. that's why I don't really buy some later plot developments like Marina's death or the mission to kill Shizuka. He panics at Shizuka's suicide but when it's homicide it's no sweat? I was expecting his line of thinking regarding death to be similar to Takaba's from JJK where death means they can no longer smile or feel happiness. So his relative non-reactions to the later stuff just feels like it belongs in something edgier. but maybe hearing those later scenes being voiced will make them make more sense to me.

Well, the chapter after that one Takopi is having a crisis since he assumed Shizuka was completely evil, but that now he's confused on who the bad guy is. I think it's pretty clear that Happians occasionally encounter objectively evil forces terrorizing the inhabitants, and it seems like they have no problem getting rid of them if it means drastically improving the lives of the rest. They have to stay within the rules though, or they're exiled like what happened to Takopi right after. He was clearly moved by what happened to Marina, so he purposefully overstepped that boundary for the sake of making her happy.

Because of that, I also think that a fragment of that desire to help by killing remained after the memory wipe, which is why he didn't just reverse time again when Shizuka was attacked and why he bashed Marina so hard over her head. The same happened in the ending when everyone retained a bunch of vague memories from timelines that hadn't even occured yet, so it isn't a stretch to assume it at all.

I reread the chapter where Takopi tells his mother about his plan and she both didn't know what "kill" meant or understand the concept of striking someone. so if Happians kill, it doesn't seem to be a concept that they bring back to their planet to discuss.

I interpreted that as Takopi actively implanting those memories into the two so they could reconcile over a similarity. Same with Naoki specifically getting into a fight with his brother. He just gave Godoka vibes the whole chapter and it helped that those two even felt like he was watching over them. But sure I can buy the willingness to kill being there subconsciously, leading to bonking her on the head with a heavy object over maybe just tackling her midsection after so many failed resets where he never directly intervened.

Judging from this page, sounds like mama absolutely knew what killing was and wanted Takopi to stay innocent of such topics. That would also imply that Takopi had at least a vague notion of killing, since why else would he have been "corrupted" otherwise, although it looks like he didn't really know what it entailed or how it related to death, seeing how casual he was about the topic.
