Yeah I think the English script butchering a lot of the shows dialogue from the original is a fair criticism all things considered. But I think the voice performances did relatively well for the time to compensate. Hopefully the English script doesn't buttrape the original vision again, but judging by modern localization standards alongside Amazon having publishing/streaming rights, very low faith personally. Seeing Episode 1 does give me a lot of faith though.

I was one of the original champions of this show on here before it even started airing since I knew it would be good and I've disliked the dub since I saw anything from it beyond the initial promo clips (and even in those Kneesocks was terrible). No one in Japan cares about English dubs outside of uncritical westaboos already primed to like it and/or lacking context of what the actual issues are to fluent English speakers while liking it as a quirky novelty. There's worse dubs out there but 1. the rewrites are incredibly lame and 2. I JUST watched the dub cast specials and they're some of the most obnoxious narcissistic stuff imaginable; promoting themselves as Z-grade celebs above all else & boasting about the lame script changes. At one point they stop talking about the show and just start telling unrelated jokes, the last 5 minutes being literally just one of the VAs burping nonstop, because it was never about the show.

I think they'll develop it a bit but nothing close to a normal relationship and that's okay. Well like I mentioned it depends place by place, saru is a very relaxed one, and it's a lot of foreigners.
Some other studios working on seasonal isekai shit putting out 10 shows for brainrot normies probably crunch from dusk til dawn but I wouldn't really know.
So yeah really depends on where you actually work.
But the going rate here pays really well, we get paid per cut.

Not really, the japanese just kind of come in and do the work and leave, they have other interests like drinking and banging or other hobbies besides anime.

I'm one of the few who's passionate about that kind of thing so I haven't found someone to really talk about, they're all pretty busy and hands offish with it, not curt but they kinda give you the unspoken "i don't care just leave me alone for a minute so I can finish this and go for my band practice" or something.

It's a shortcut for sure, we use for tricky stuff though, not as is.
So just for backgrounds and to layer parallax backgrounds to fake camera motion moving through the shot in a bunch of just stacked layers of 2d flat planes in 3d space to give the illusion of stuff moving.

Time is pretty lax, we never really fall behind.
And everyone who wants to have this job is usually talented enough to make it on time, I haven't seen anyone bad at animation try to be an animator here yet.
Budgets are not disclosed, we just get paid at an agreed rate.

We can bring up another studio when brainstorming stuff just to reference something specific but we rarely talk outside the specific project we're working on.

I majored in animal science, volunteered at animal rescues (currently at a parrot shelter)
