Anime has always been like this. Just look back at the seasons of some previous years. There is a lot of shit and only a few well animated otaku works. You can look on casting too and find that there are certain people who always show up on the good stuff. There are bands of lolicons that Shaft has unleashed on the industry over the years that nearly always make high quality stuff for instance. The only time I could see people believing the soul was dying was 21-23. But things were shit then because the studios were still recovering from lockdowns (Japan specifically also kept locked down for way longer than normal). Now you are starting to see the engines fire up again, which is why there seems to suddenly be a return to normalcy. We've gone back to developing instead of trying to survive.

This is the only gripe i have with the current state of anime. Its all just manga adaptations. They pick to adapt the highest rated manga and as long as they give it good production it becomes a hit, its incredibly safe and sterile. Light novels and other source materials are better since they need to rack their brains on how to actually animate and direct the story instead of a 1-1 copy of the manga.

I think it should be obvious to any Mushokufag now that Bind used Mushoku Tensei as stepping stone and now they don't care about it anymore. The story is based on real shogi personalities, like Nikaido is based on a real guy who was sickly his entire life and died at age 29, but managed to become master rank and devoted his life to spreading his love of shogi to everyone. It's strange, it like the anime is constantly on the brink of being complete misery porn, but is paradoxically a healing anime and constantly reigns everything back in.

Stages Of An Anime Fan
Stage 1: Is introduced to a popular, entry-level anime film such as Akira or Ghost in the Shell by a friend. Proceeds to explore the most famous anime films such as the above, Ghibli movies, etc.
Stage 2: Discovers shonen series, likely Bleach on Adult Swim. Briefly becomes an IRL version of Rikka from Chuunibyou. Does not yet understand why /a/ trolls shonenshit threads. Will hate self for the rest of his natural life for this brief phase.
Stage 3: Mature / deepfag phase. Stage 4: Moefag, the final phase.
