I think they aren't used well. Only Exiled Heavy Knight seems to use them properly and even then it isn't like he is showing them that much. With good reason since it'd take away part of the mystery of combat if we had everyone's numerical values.
Fate had the right idea in using letters for ranks and keeping ambiguous where they applied.
But vast majority of the isekai only use that for dick measuring.
It's much more interesting when you have a varied cast to use those. A high STR and a high DEF characters clashing may be evenly matched. But if a high STR glasscannon fights a high AGI character he might die before he lands the decisive blow for example. The high AGI character wouldn't necessarily be able to tear off the DEF guy, who could potentially tank and fight back, his pitiful str being enough to fell the high AGI dude and so on.

I think the problem is class variety. When you play Fire Emblem or some Dungeon Crawler, the stat spreads vary a lot and this helps. Stuff like a type of mage with high DEF but low WIS or a class of warrior that has low DEF but high WIS. Subverting common stats like that can be deadly on two ways since usually you expect warrior types to withstand physical attacks and mages to resist magical ones. Which can make Archers a bane to Mages and vice versa. Then comes a Dark Knight with good DEF and MGI but low WIS and that throws your common sense out of the window. He will go around felling warriors and archers alike tanking what is thrown at him, but it's a mage that could take him down in spite of being a fellow magic user.

Why are light novels so shit compared to manga and anime? Every time I try one, it’s like reading someone’s first ever draft that somehow got published. Half the “prose” is just characters recapping the plot out loud, the pacing is slower than a JRPG tutorial, and the MC spends five pages thinking about his onions sauce or some shit before the story moves on. At least with manga and anime, you’ve got art, voice acting, and pacing to distract you from the cardboard writing. With LNs, it’s just raw, unfiltered jap cringe straight to your brain.

Not always, read a story once where CF was referred to as female for the entire story except near the end. Towards the end gender was flipped to male in every instance of romance with feMC. Story wasn't tagged as GL or yuri and was tagged with male lead on inspection. To this day I have 0 clue if the CF was supposed to be female or male.

Finally done with the tl of sylvies story. I don't know if them visiting the old world was a novel pack in story that's not included or something yet untranslated. Ultimately I found it worth rereading and maybe I'll even do so again which would be the minimum for me to say I like something. The beginning is extremely rough and the ending is cs3 level retarded for the first arc. I abhor the way Sophia's treatment was given. I don't genuinely believe that they are friends and it's a grevious enough wound that I fully expect a bigger shoe to drop, however given the fact that mia was glossed over I suspect the author has no intention for Sylvia to truly make real ammends to immediately betraying Sophia's trust like that, and the narrative weight of that decision is incredible given clair is the reason she took part and given clairs very strong opinion morally on including everyone for the final battle tm, the fact that she and Sylvia had never addressed her loss in any meaningful way is preposterous levels of walk back. But this is kind of what I grow to expect from kr writers sadly. the redonculous thing is that despite not being sure of the translation, I can't really consider sylvies reason for betraying the goddess is justified by anything the goddess suggested. Erasing her doesn't come out of anywhere. Sylvia just suddenly says that after the fact like it's true, and the same way she finds out the identity of the masked individual, she comes up with a story that contradicts the first person account we have from said masked person.

Realistically, the old team would probabaly have a tough enough time trying to replace someone like him.
