Healin Good Review 11!

Not much in the way of storytelling, just mostly action and some woeisme.

Summary for the anons that need it: After the fuckups of the last episode, the Cures have made it to the riverside to cleans the second MoTW. After a few potshots from both sides, the cures cleanse the Kaiju of a MoTW. Next is the flower MoTW, but its gone beyond most MoTW and its nearly converted all its surroundings. After a little mockery from Daruizen, the Cures get to work. But it doesn't go well. The Cures are smacked around and dragged out, eventually getting launched into the nearby forest with Daruizen getting to pull out his most devilish lines. In the Flower MoTW's victory, it coughs up a seed that runs off. Nodoka slowly comes to in a nearby forest with everyone making sure she's alright. With Nodoka up everyone tries to figure out what happened and how they can fix it. Nodoka blames herself, but everyone reminds her the blame is to be shared. They go back and forth, the fairies eventually pointing out the longer they wait, the stronger the MoTW gets, and the damage to the land starts to set in. With some new found determination, the girls head out, with Hinata in the lead; who quickly realizes she has no idea where she's headed. With a little more desperation, the girls plea to the forest spirits to point them towards the MoTW as Latte is fully incapacitated. The girls exit the forest and transform. Daruizen sits back to watch the show as the Cures get owned in a sort of Masochistic ritual. After a full unison beat down from the MoTW, the Cures stand up summoning their heightened determination, the spirits gifting them a new powerup; a tri-cleanse attack! With the flower down and spirits healed, the girls head back only to find their desperate teacher who thought he'd lost them.

As far as story is concerned, we did get a little bit of Nodoka's back story, but all I can do is speculate on it as its just the doctors asking her not to give up, which is ultimately what she asked of the spirit in the MoTW leading to the powerup.

He's right, the Ojamajo have a lot of depth to them throughout the entire franchise. Each episode of Doremi adds something to the cast or even the supporting cast. Aiko in particular has a whole character arc that spans from her debut to the finale and it's fucking beautiful how it concludes. Doremi was the original all-loving pink-haired girl with a big heart and two left feet. I've come to appreciate Precure as I got deeper into it, but after rewatching the entirety of Doremi and jumping into Futari wa, it was jarring how bland the characters were. Heartcatch looks like Doremi without any of its substance, and I say this as an avid Erika lover (Tsubomi's cute too).

From what I heard, Doremi's heavier episodes caught a lot of people by surprise today when they watched it.

I do like Princess Tutu, but Utena comes to mind as theatrical magical girl shows go. In less than a cour's worth of episodes total. Aside from this kid, any other recurring characters from outside Yoyo's household are lucky to even be in 2 episodes as anything more than just a glorified cameo.
We didn't even have so much as a one-off character of the week until episode 13. HS' lack of supporting characters was the biggest problem with it, because even it fails at having plot, worldbuilding, identity, themes, and villains, having a side cast does so damn much to mitigate all of that. Regardless of one's thoughts on other "bad" seasons, at least they show us the Cures' families and the everyday people they're fighting to protect.

It was pretty obvious that HS didn't really care that much about the overarching plot early on between the lack of general meetings and the refusal to even show a silhouette.
Idol isn't all that open about the main boss's goal either but it's been doing a decent job dripfeeding various plot and worldbuilding details like how fairies work, the fact that Meroron is somehow fundamentally different from the other fairies, the nature of the Heart Kiraki Lock, and as of late, where 2 of the generals really came from. Admittedly, I'm not quite sure where the season is going with all of this and how Meroron's secret may or may not be relevant, but it's more care than HS put into its overarching plot.
