Delivering with the Catastrophe was always going to be complicated considering it was hyped since volume 10 and the enemies became more and more powerful with each mission. A common criticism is that the giants don't look as strong as Nuraihyon. But to be fair, Oku stopped giving a shit about Gantz when the mysteries start to reveal so the final arc can be considered as shitposting on manga form

She's pretty competent. The only time she was actually useless was in the Dinosaur mission because she didn't know what to do yet, and most of the Osaka mission because she didn't actively participate until the end boss because the arc focused more on Kato, but she's still not useless when she actually does start doing things.

More interesting would be Kaze properly scaled to Bakiverse as a character, I'm guessing Hanayama tier, probably having a role of strongest dojo breaker in japan before running into the Bakigang.

I dunno, anon. The best feats Kaze had with the suit are about on par with Pickle fighting and eating large dinosaurs barehanded, or Yujiro killing that Brontosaurus sized Elephant easily, but Yujiro has broken martial arts on top.

The last arc needs the characters to have clearer goals that align the themes Oku wanted to explore, the main ones being :

I feel that the author thought of Kurono 2 as being a different character and not as being literally Kurono. By the end, K1 gets to be the hero that the whole world celebrates while K2 lost his soulmate on a stupid fit and commits suicide a few hours later. K1 should have been used to explore other plot points, like the richfags as some have pointed in this thread. Maybe that would also be the opportunity to use the vampires since they have beef with gantz.

That could be done by amusing the god aliens (everyone goes full retard and point their guns at them, inspired by K2's speech) or by prostrating to them like the gods they wish to be. It would be depend on the lore you'd want Gantz to have. I think you get the gist of it. Ideally,K2 and Reika should have a scene in the epilogue.

Skip the Italy arc and have the Gantzers of the world unite for the first time in Katastrophe. Oji-san and Inaba can die in Katastrophe instead.

Vampires actually contribute in Katastrophe. They can live or die. I don't care.
Tae can serve largely the same purpose, but stop dragging her around in ways that require plot armor. Just have her be in less immediate danger, but still in general danger by nature of being around the horse ayys. Keep her in the fishbowl, and then the kid takes her for a walk and Kurono and Fura sees her there. And Nishi doesn't shoot her.
Have Sephiroth's brother be more important, so that the final fight of the whole series doesn't feel like it was prompted by Kurono killing a mook.
Either remove the room of truth, or change it beyond recognition.
In general, just cut a lot of the fat. This isn't a major story change, but the plot should just move faster.

Give Kei and Tae have more varying dialogue, explore the horse ayy ship through more characters. Give Sakurai a good ending because he deserves one.

Set up the horses to be more sympathetic, instead of the gruesome feeding scenes have them process the humans to be unrecognizable for example and make the actions more distinguished by their military and civilians, the biebercut sociopaths can stay. Make the warehouse scene 90% handdrawn. Remove 2rono's OOC crashout, Reika can still die as the tragic heroine but give the clone a chance to build his life in an epilogue scene or whatever. I kind of liked the room of truth but maybe make the god ayys more enigmatic instead of petty assholes, but eh Kato's banter was pretty good desu. Inaba should"ve survived and taken place of Izumi and his lovechild. He would've been a great rep for Oji-san and had some great character development. On that note some scene or mention on what the hell happened to italy would've been appreciated, maybe even have the statues fight back along with the vamps for kino enemy of my enemy is my friend scenes.

The ending needed an epilogue with more closure for the rest of the cast for sure.

What would be the point of killing off Reika without Kurono's crashout? Oku had him act out so he could 1. Witness Reika getting killed because of his recklessness and make his big love declaration for her and 2. Have a reason to attack the alien gods in righteous indignation for attempting to diminish the value of her and Kurono's other loved one's lives. You have to place yourself in the writer's shoes, what he clearly wanted to get at in the end was that scene where (a) Kurono, the embodiment of the human spirit in this manga, challenged those godlike aliens, who in turn represent the Universe's cold and uncaring nature, but he figured killing off the MC for good would have been two much of a downer even for this manga and even with the reincarnation explanation, so he decided to have K2 take that role instead. Maybe he could've achieved a similar effect by not having Reika die in the warehouse arena, and have them both her and K2 die while trying to attack the alien gods together, although I personally think keeping K2 and Reika alive at the same time as K1 and Tae is perfectly compatible with the message of the manga about these copied people's life still having value and meaning.

This is actually ambiguous now that souls are confirmed. It's more likely that Kurono who died in the vampires arc is the same who ressed after due to relationship rule. Oku goes into it more with Tae and Kurono regaining their lost memories but is sadly another dropped plotpoint after Kei dies due to dropping the vampires subplot and his brother like hot rocks.

The whole Katastrophe arc was a letdown from previous arcs and the final chapters were especially disjointed, though it was already showing in Osaka with Oku randomly forgetting beards. Kurono twice, somehow, teleported with the Gantz bike from orbit to earth without being teleported, and lived to tell the tale. Couldn't Oku have bothered for a page of re-entry? And that's just the smallest of things. What really pisses me off is the final chapter basically has zero closure, Kei and Kato somehow drift to shore and their respective motivations for survival arrive, still in what they wore 2(?) days ago. Wasn't the neiigh spaceship hurtling down too? Was everyone revived since the balls worked again? How about a little epilogue to so we can see Takeshi get a fightnut mom, Kei becoming involuntary prime minister and Kato banging both his wives?

Is shitting on Katastrophe one of those "retarded but accepted by the majority" points that just becomes the norm?

Because I can understand the hate for the arc if all you got in a week was a whole chapter of "Kei-Chaaaaan!" or bad scans that made the CGI impossible to see.
But reading it in a whole sitting, I seriously, for the live of me can't see what's so dreadfully terrible with it. It's not in ANY form as bad as AOT ending but you still have anons comparing those.

Kurono gains back his memories right before dying to the vampires. In my opinion, gantz is able to put a softblock on someone's memories, but he is not able to delete them altogether. Gantz is probably scanning every without a break. When he resurrects someone without their memories, it's because he locks those away. This what makes the most sense...

To fix this system, Oku could have used a throne of heroes like system from fate/stay night. The soul is unique in an another dimension. Each time you create a body, you copy the original soul. Souls keep relationships with other souls, but those relationships can be lost after many reincarnations if the reincarnations drift apart. Once a relationship is promoted to soul-buddy after many life times of love or friendship, they will remain tied forever. For Kurono that would be Reika, Tae, and Kato. The ones that could progress to soul buddies would be the old man, Lara, and Izumi. The elephant in the room remains the content of the soul.

I enjoyed the final arc more now than the first time but thats because I already knew what to except.
Gantz has a lot of flaws but even those flaws just add to the absurdity and enjoyment of the series, apart from 2 which always bug me.

The first is how Izumi is handled. Felt like he was just written out of the story in rush when up until that point he had been Kurono's main antagonist and a strong driving force in the plot.
The second is the sudden cut to black at the end. A story of Gantz's scope really needed one or a few more chapters to see the consequences of what just happened.
What happens to Kei and Kato? And the rest of the Gantz player?How does humanity react to this massive event?

Despite this I still love this manga, its one of the craziest and most unhinged pieces of media i've ever experienced and has surprisingly good character writing, especially Kurono, absolutely goated protagonist.

There's other media tha share the same genre as Gantz but there's nothing quite like it. Its very special.

I will be honest the only thing i remember about Reika was that some dude was fucking her but then she transformed and he was actually fucking some alien tranny

Everyone always focus on the nudes and gore, but the other thing completely uncensored in this story was the human condition (even if, as you say, in a mostly pessimistic fashion), and i always loved that from this manga.

I really liked Gantz, but there are some inconsistencies and things I wish Oku addressed better:

1.The alien from the Room of Truth says aliens have been migrating to earth for the last 30 years, but the events of Gantz E take please waaaay back in the past. is Gantz E taking place in the past from another dimension or something?
2.Does that means the Gantz balls exists in other dimensions and in any timelines?.
3.Didn't like the answers from the Room of Truth alien to questions people made. I mean "It way it is", come on he could've come up with something better.
4.Where do aliens go when they get teleported by the "Y" gun?
5.It kinda bothered me how the average japanese person in Gantz reacted when aliens started to spread propaganda labeling "gantz" soldiers like terrorist. I mean is he implying the average japanese person is this gullible / retarded? I mean the aliens attacked out of the blue and murderered people left and right and the first thing they do is assume "lol terrorist fault"
6. Some of the aliens in the final arc (not the horses) have very humanoid features / hands. I feel like Oku could've done better.

The simple answer is that Oku didn't think of Gantz E more than a decade ago, but it is weird that he chose only 30 years ago.
And Gantz E breaks all of it anyway since it technically allows timetravel which means they could prevent the invasion to begin with unless this is now the newest timeline.
