I agree with other anons that the girl is cute and that the whole 30 seconds thing is a bit odd, I don't think I like it. What I like, however, is how powerful Arkos really is. Other than it just being a fun display of overwhelming power, I just think it's healthy sign for the story, as in, it makes it less likely to become an endless typical power creep. Or, at least, the author shows some consideration regarding that.

I think the best solution is when other characters have to figure out the weakness during a fight. The decision to bring Arkos back was gonna get some criticism no matter how it was executed since it has no obvious narrative relevance yet. It makes him Julian's foil, but other than that?

Interesting. The one issue I see with this is that Arkos has been depicted as an all-around scumbag. He's not a clinical psychopath like Julian's mother because he feels genuine love for his mom and to some extent Zira, but he's still a remorseless sadistic monster. Centuria hasn't so far asked for the audience to feel much sympathy for evil individuals. It would be jarring for Arkos to suddenly get the poor groomed victim treatment.
It really depends on what happens to Altus after this. If he's cut off from the castle's poisonous influence through shenanigans then we might see him get a second chance at life, and possibly develop enough individuality to disagree with Arkos.
