I think this is the 3rd Re:Zero chapter I stopped reading partway through. It's just impossible to accept the bullshit of Petra mentally experiencing an onslaught of every Subaru's death all the way to arc 4 without in the process being crippled and rendered defective. Not only does it cheapen Subaru's own deaths, but it in turn functions only as a meaningless development.
Of course, Japanese fans seem to be quaking in happiness and are celebrating how the 'power of love' has triumphed once more against despair.

Maybe that's my clue to drop Re:Zero.

BTW, Tappei spoiled how to kill the Black Snake already. It's extremely obvious now and spoils the suspect reason behind which Petra's trial line unfurls.

Look- the Black Snake is not a concrete, singular existence, but an amalgamation of parasitical entities whose congregation emanates a poisonous miasma. Singularly, like an individual virus, it poses insignificant harm, but collectively, the disease foci are a definite threat.

In that case, regardless of the multiplicity of parasites making up the body, Petra can use her teleportation powers to isolate and scatter each and every one of them across the entire world, reducing them to mere leeches in whatever location they might then have been transported to, or even extinguishing it altogether if their existence was dependent on a totality of being.

How can I not pity a character like Anastasia whose forever just the 'money-chaser' or Emilia the 'disabled' or Petra the 'potential wielding village girl' or Rom the 'old man who loves Felt' or Felt herself as the 'rebellious princess' ? At least Crusch had something on.

I liked Otto and Garf prior to their total assimilation into Emilia's camp too. One was a friend before a chieftain, the other not an underling but a follower acknowledging his status of lesser due to being outwitted and outplayed.
Anyway, Volcanica VS Roswaal & Clind should be cool. Al vs Emilia & Rem is already fated to be worthless by virtue of fact Tappei will be forced to twist the story in a way that appeals to fans of the 'two primary heroines'. It's a curse.

As per the ending line Roi is ostensibly dead.
I think there was some line about this head of the snake governing old age so maybe its less than instantly lethal and fits with Roi thinking he could defeat people with it and still eat them.

The strong enemies realizing that fighting Al is way more trouble than it's worth may in fact try to leave and have done so before. The one that took his arm acted on instinct and countered him and he's way more wary to the point of paranoia now. It's plenty fearsome in part due to his wariness and likely way faster reaction time ever since then and the fact that he's strong and clever enough to turn a 1% win chance into 100%. His counters are more or less "someone strong enough to take him down but smart/kind enough to not kill him" It sounds silly but nice people with a lot of power are the most likely to counter him on accident.
