My problem with sekiro is actually that it's way too easy after the first playthrough. It's one of those games where once you get the boss patterns down you're never going to forget them so replays are just you steamrolling through the game. Would've benefitted from harder difficulties that shook up the boss patterns and enemy spawns

The animation looks good. I can't tell from this trailer but where almost all video game -> tv adaptations fail is the story being too video-game-like. i.e. it's focused around quests, challenges and achievements. to make a good movie or series from a video game source you have to scrap the actual order of events and follow only the general story points.

I've only really liked Dark Souls 1 and Sekiro. Demons Souls felt hollow, DS2 & DS3 are mediocre. Elden Ring was fun, but it's too large. Once I reached Crumbling Azula I had lost all motivation to keep going. I forced myself through it because it was a really cool area, but without much motivation left the double boss just made me quit. Never got to play Bloodborne but I've the feeling it'll disappoint me like Demon Souls.

Only Waterfowl and Scarlet Aeonia cause of the lingering dot. Multiple bosses in ER have moves you can't just roll into so that's not indicative of anything. Waterfowl as others pointed out also didn't even look like that in earlier versions and they likely intended it to stand out with the final version.

Elden Ring has been in dev since at least 2016 and Malenia's design was already finalized by June 2019 (reveal trailer), merely 3 months after Sekiro released. That trailer was outsourced and if we consider production time and marketing schedules, her design is likely much older.
I think it'd be naive to believe that they had no plan for one of the biggest boss fights in the game and had to rely on Sekiro scraps. I'm sure there was some influence since the games were being developed in parallel but there's no evidence to prove that an entire boss was repurposed to make Malenia.

The whole premise of Ranni's murdering Godwyn to abandon her flesh and great rune was that she was committing an act that somehow glitched the order of the universe itself to achieve her end. Then, it turns out, Miquella can just abandon both of those things on a whim without killing anyone. This is the very first thing we learn about in the intro cinematic of the game, and they fucked up the lore connected to it beyond repair. The whole of SotE has garbage like this, that falls apart and undermines the base game the second you think about any of it.

It's genuinely some of the worst worldbuilding I have ever seen in a game in my life.

The world is fantastic.
Most FromSoft DLCs are locked behind some boss gating. That is just typical for how they integrate them into the game.
The Scadutree system is not perfect, but is a great way of maintaining balance between the DLC and the overworld where you don't end up OP after doing everything in the DLC and then heading back to the overworld to finish the game. Radahn is a mid-game boss, and Mohg is the easiest of the 'secret superbosses' by far. And you can get to the DLC from quite early on. The Scadutree system makes it so that by >Scadu 16, the DLC is actually easier than the Haligtree and Mountaintops in terms of enemy scaling.

Bosses having huge gap closers is true. It is what makes Magic builds pretty tough, even. But other than dragons, where they're only dangerous at a distance. Most bosses do not run away much or at all.
There are a few bosses that include multiple enemies, but that is just how these games have always went. There are none that combine 'a shit ton' with 'stronger than your summons'. Gaius has a pair of banished knights, but they're going to be far weaker than your +10 summon individually or even as a group. A certain catacombs early on has a bunch of imps and a watchdog together, but the imps are on par with the wolf summons you get for free. Etc.

Elden Ring is definitely better than Bloodborne or DS3.
For the simple fact that by its size and allowable diversity, you can do most things that you loved in BB or DS3 within Elden Ring, and then more than that. In terms of player freedom it is the best in the series.

For Godwyn the ending is that everyone failed.
No one had a solution. His Death Knights penetrated the DLC realm looking for a cadaver for him to inhabit instead of his body. They failed and helped to spread deathblight, a representation of Godwyn's spread, while doing so.
Miquella and the worshipers at Castle Sol tried to get an eclipse going to either revive or fully annihilate Godwyn's body. But that failed.
Fia is the only one that has a direct solution, but her's is just changing the Order itself so that Deathblight is made foundational to the Order. Basically turning a bug into a feature so it stops crashing your game.

Because the problem for the world is that nothing can die correctly anymore instead its the standard Dark Souls thing of everyone living so long that they break down mentally and physically into husks of themselves.
Ranni's ending does solve this.

What is more questionable, is whether her ending solves things like Godwyn's cancer, or whether it prevents other outer gods like the God of Rot or Frenzied Flame from sending agents to build their own order behind her back.
One could argue the latter is covered by her ripping the Order away, leaving them without the ability to spread their influence other than in-person. But the former is still a problem.
