I'm going to see it with some friends. We saw infinity castle too and all thought it was mostly ok, like 7/10. I'm guessing they'll like reze arc a lot more. I already know it's better myself just from watching the camrip.

I watched it today in Dobly Vision, it was very cool, great experience.

It tries to be all serious like Look Back and it falls flat, it was kinda shit. 2 volumes into a film, wtf were they thinking

Just watched it, was great, a bit annoyed at the usual shit CGI MAPPA used every now and then, also no nipples was very disappointing.
Struck a good balance between the dark parts and the wacky which is one of the things I enjoy the most about the manga.
Nice to see that they went for the more wacky way of animation and presentation in comparison to the serious dark shit that was s1.

I think the new and actually faithful artstyle is enough for that. I unironically think the movie is good enough to endure Season 1 for it. I still think reading the manga is the best way up untill reze arc, but now the movie is so good that I feel it's a valid alternative for this story. Best world would be to throw everything from season 1, except the opening and endings, into a burning dumpster and remake it from the ground up, while respecting the source material and elevating it in meaningful ways that actually fit the story, instead of making stuff like a 2 minute sequence of nothing just for the sake of it in episode 4.

It's been years since i read Chainsaw Man and kinda forgot quite a bit on this arc except for a few details.

I loved it. the movie looked great. it really suceeded in depicting reze as this manic pixie dream girl, reze was so gorgeous in the movie that I can finally understand why denji is still in love with her even after he got betrayed. I'd still be in love too in his position. beam was funny, though his voice was a bit weird and the sound effects and his weird movements sometimes just felt off-putting. still don't think makima's voice fits her, she also talks too quietly. the directing and the artstyle were great. the pool scene was depicted wonderfully. If I had to criticise something then it would be that they made the fight scene too long. at some point it just felt silly to see the 100th explosion not putting a scratch unto denji while he doesn't really retaliate. the explosions were really great though. I'd call it a 10/10 adaptation, they really stayed true to the manga unlike whatever the fuck season 1 was.

I've seen people claiming that these guys get really early to the theater and take the pic but who knows. I'm not from the US but I went to see the movie and there were like 20/100 seats taken, not complaining since the emptier the better for me and I'm pretty sure that the Japan audience made the movie a success already.

For what it’s worth, I went to see the demon slayer movie and it was only me and one other dude, and it ended up being super successful anyways. Not to say it’s gonna be Demon Slayer level, but I wouldn’t worry that bad when a lot of these guys are probably also watching it midday on a work day and with subs which definitely ends up with barely filled theaters. Now if we start getting evidence of people watching it on the weekends in dub and the theaters are still empty then that’d be worrying.

Has anyone watched this movie as a first time exposure to the series? Can you recommend this moviw to someone who never watched S1 or the manga?

Kimetsu Infinity Castle was my first exposure to Demon Slayer and I find it entertaining regardless.
