I would unironically say that Rudeus is more realistic than Subaru, the speed in which Subaru fell for Emilia, the fact that he fell in love with Rem after she's killed him multiple times requires a little suspension of disbelief, I wouldn't want anything to do with Emilia after the first death. Rudeus was a gross pervert in his past life and with the ability to hide behind the flesh of a child decided to groom little girls to be his future onaholes. Which is what I'd do.

I'm not sure why people get so hung up on the fact that Subaru (and Emilia by proxy) don't do things the right way. The whole point of the show is an isekai that doesn't go the way you want it to.
Subaru's placed in extremely unfair positions and has to learn things the hard way, while handicapped by his former self and issues. Any smart guy would immediately get over Emilia once he realizes how unbelievably uninterested and oblivious she is, unlovable, even, and he's a gigantic retard for rejecting Rem who is wife material.
The entire world in Re:Zero is comically, unbelievably unfair. By Subaru getting raped constantly by the worst possible circumstances, you as a viewer also get to experience that same suffering by watching Subaru fuck it all up. It's like a beautiful mirrored trainwreck that only pays off in the extremely rare moments where nothing terrible happens, like when they first visited the Water City at the beginning of S3 (picrel).

At the very least, Subaru should have gone gung-ho in exploiting RBD the moment he discovered that his timeline respawn point changed. It's shown a little in the show (I believe in that Witch trial?) where he's forced to relive the timelines after he dies, which is brutal, but he completely fails the psychological test here, which is that any timeline in which he's alive is the only one that is real and truly matters.
What I'd really love to see would be Seiya from Cautious Hero, but in Subaru's shoes. You just know he'd exploit the fuck out of RBD.

It takes months before arc 4 happens and even then its still conjecture on the nature of Satella that she will never give up on him. Which might be true, too bad the power seems to have a range limit and regardless of how Satella feels about it if you die outside the range of her authority you're going to stay dead.

It involves dying. Dying is painful. You don't control the checkpoint. You don't know what this is doing to you that you aren't aware of. Subaru is aware the more he resets the "closer" Satella feels and he has the heebie jeebies that if Satella touches him in the shadow garden its game over. Whether that's true or not is unknown. He is also aware, in the immediate arc following one before he knows anything else about the entity doing this to him, that dying comes with it an increase in a particular scent that already got him killed because some people can detect it and are hostile to it. This then comes up again in arc 4, drastically changing how the loops work in a way that was very annoying for him to figure out.
Also, as Subaru is not actually retarded, even assuming he can reset infinitely and operating on the assumption that he is doing an actual reset of the timeline and not leaping to a different one, he is trying to avoid dying as a hedge against that as well as it being unpleasant.

BTW "realistic" people constantly avoid doing minorly uncomfortable things that literally make them better, such as exercising, dieting, learning and so on. He was good in S1 but hes been a boring puppet since then. Part of what made S1 good was how believable his dedication to Emilia was. NEET from a boring developed nation with no reason to live gets transported to another world and latches on to the first girl that is nice to him. The mystery about her identity is interesting and she treats him like a human even as the situation changes between loops. All that leading up to the final scene in episode 1 gives a great motivation for Subaru. The comedy of his character and his "realistic" motivations might be the main thing that makes S2 better than the rest.

Depends on how you use realistic. For feats, Subaru seems suprisingly strong for a normal human with just working out daily. Super charismatic and intelligent with how he can get people on his side with just a single loop, even though he was kind of a NEET previousy.

I do love how all the people he saved, the feats he accomplished and the friends he made in season 1, he still doubts his usefulness and tries doing everything by himself.

This is still really hinging on what Al thinks should've happened and why he knows that.
So maybe Echidna made Al out of some projected future Subaru and she was trying to jump the gun on how this was supposed to resolve. But at that point Al's current motivation to remove Subaru seemingly at Echidna's direction is weird. Did anything in the No Stella stories confirm Echidna told him to get rid of Subaru? I haven't read them so I don't really know, if they didn't its possible this is action Al is taking entirely himself and not really what he's supposed to be doing. Or maybe Echidna's future knowledge is so obtuse that somehow this course of action and it failing is important for what she actually wanted to have happen.
Future knowledge makes such a mess of things, especially when it feels really arbitrary. Like Rem was apparently predicted to die, presumably in arc 2, but Subaru has avoided that and thus a lot of the future predicting things are off kilter. But that seems like such a weird thing to get wrong, is it arbitrary or is there going to be some real mechanic behind it?
