> "Soo Tong told me that a group of about 50 Australian nurses were taken prisoners, and brought to the Bangka Island where he was. They were locked inside two long wooden houses, stripped naked and chained hands and legs to the floor. Japanese soldiers, half naked from the waist down, lined up outside the buildings and took turns to rape them. From the kitchen where he worked, he heard them cry and scream for help at the top of their voice. But who could help them? It was sad and pitiful."
For those Anons who are WWII or Military History nerds, there's a new book from Australia regarding Australian nurses in the Pacific Theater.
