There is. It also depends on what "eternal life" even means. Like is it simply not aging, or am I invulnerable? Am I immune to injuries only, or do disease, hunger/thirst harm/kill me? As a non-Christian, I would encourage you to read the Bible. Not only does this mean you can stunt on preaching Christians, who don't even read their own book, but it gives you a foundational understanding of Western culture that can't be gotten elsewhere. One problem I have with Christians is the divide between the core tenet and the expectations that comes with "being Christian".

What I learned growing up is "accepting Christ as your savior is absolute." If you sincerely pray and reach out to God in repentance for the sin of man then you are absolved and granted entry to the kingdom of Heaven. There is nothing that can take that away from you, your place in eternal life is assured by that action.

But the notion of "being Christian" involves having to "honor the heavenly father" in the life you live and if you're made to feel as though your salvation necessitates carrying out the mission of the church here on Earth. Tithing, prayer, honoring your body as a temple unto God without defilement, reading scripture, witnessing to those outside the faith...there is so much weight put onto what you do down here by the institution of Christianity. What I took the whole shtick of salvation to mean is that "you accept Jesus as your lord and savior, then decide how you want that relationship to go." If you feel motivated to express your faith and share how much joy that brings into your life in the hopes others join you, do it. If you want a quiet, introspective relationship that doesn't involve anyone but you and your personal belief then do that. Either are valid and do not violate the commitment to accepting Jesus that started you down this journey. But the way it plays out doesn't actually reflect that simplicity, even though I've been in several ministries that claim that it's as complicated and simple as what I believed.

I'm not saying accept God but go on living your life as debaucherously as you were yesterday (although, again, as I was taught doing that isn't related to you and your walk with Christ - it's just a bad look for someone who claims to be and potentially paints you as a poser but regardless it's not supposed to be a factor) but no one "in the faith" has a place to question you.

Well if you're being honest about accepting Christ into your life there is an implicit understanding that you have regrets about the life you came from and wish to change the content of your character because there are aspects of your person that do not agree with the kind of person you wish to be, hoping your walk with God will fulfill the internal desire to do better.

But, again, that's a matter of personal choice and still doesn't involve the more outward expressions of one's faith (and also does not change the underlying "to accept God is to accept your place at his side in the next life"). Somedays right outside my apparteent complex, there's these 2 ladies stopping me to talk about Jesus. I tell them I don't have the time and they follow me until I take a panflet which will endup in the garbage. Then I cross a major street to take the bus, and another preacher ask me to take his panflet and accept jesus in my hearth. And that will happen mutliple days in a row, until they change spot.

About once every month or 2 I also get mormons and/or jeovah's witness. They will ring every bell until someone let them in and then they will knock on everysingle door, even the ones from people who say they wern't interested.

It dosen't help that downtown where I work, is also filled with as much preachers of differents faith, with a megaphone as there are crackheads yelling nonsens.
