I'm a female to male trans person (FTM), but because I'm 4'11" I decided there wasn't any point in getting hormone treatments or surgeries since I'd never pass for a guy anyway.
Until last night I was dating a male to female (MTF) trans woman. I thought because of our shared hardship in being trans she'd validate and support my gender identity at least in private, but she just treats me like a woman. She even admitted she's only attracted to women and only ever entertained my male identity as a kindness. So I broke up with her.
She is claiming that she has rights to the cat we adopted and that she's going to take it with her when she moves out, and that unless I take her back I'll never get to see the cat again.
I filled out all the paperwork with the shelter when we adopted the cat so I feel like if the police were involved they would side with me, but I wanted to check if anyone had experience with pet custody in breakups and if there was any advice? She is not going to take care of this cat if she gets him, I always fed him and took care of him.

I won't read made-up creative writing. I don't believe a word of this silliness.

For something like a cat, possession is 9/10 of the law. You both own the cat right now, so the police aren't going to get involved in this. Just don't let her take the cat with her and you'll be fine (also, if you aren't doing so already feed the cat only wet food, particularly Fancy Feast, it'll live like 5 years longer)

Call the shelter and ask about ownership. Mention that it's urgent and important because you don't trust your ex to take care of the cat. If it's really legal for one of you to just take the cat, simply do it first. Do you have friends or family? Anyone who can temporarily catsit until she's moved out to make sure that she doesn't steal it?

Find out when they’re moving out, move cat to your parents house a week before they do so and tell your parents to call the cops if he comes over to claim it.

Easy peasy, especially if the paperwork from the shelter was done in your name.

If you really want to be a man, then get used to being alone. As for the cat, have someone else take care of them/put them in boarding while your ex moves out.

if you filled out all the paperwork then the cat is your personal property, and taking it would be theft. There's nothing to be adjudicated regarding pet custody, since the cat is your property. That only comes up when there's a divorce and the married couple had joint title to the pet, or if title was never established in the first place but that's not the issue here. The law is on your side.

You should kys asap. Hopefully you don't have children or adopt. You are the cancer to society. I wish the world had stronger dads to deal with this decay.
