Is it enough?
So back in May I managed to get a controller job for my first position in the security industry. However its starting to take its toll:
>12 hour shifts, 4 on and 4 off
>90% of the job is me waiting, 10% is actually me doing shit
>Feel like i'm slowly gaining weight which I have to manage by going to the gym even more
>Strange management that is obsessed with training, even though I barely fucking do anything
My plan is to get till October and find another job. One which is more active and has easier shifts. The trouble is I don't want to piss off management when I do this as I feel like they see me as a long term investment, but if I give them at least six months then that should be good enough.

Don't give a shit what management thinks, you jump to a better job the second you get the chance.
This is a business relationship, you don't and shouldn't worry about what is good for your employer

Fuck management. If you can't handle your easy-ass job then just bail and go do an even easier job until you fail at that too.

Manage weight by eating less. Your activity level has apparently dropped but youre likely also eating more due to stress or boredom.

Its not just that, but it will also look okay to future employers if i worked for at least 6 months instead of bailing early

Bro you have it made. You only work 48 hours of doing nothing, probably get paid pretty well, and then get a 4-day weekend. I work construction and work 6 10 hour days in the burning south Texas sun. With my commute I leave home at 5:30 am and don't get home until 7pm.I have been working this schedule since October and it is back-breaking work. Your job sounds like a fucking dream to me. Why would anyone want to give up such an easy job with so much downtime and so many days off? Are you like 19 or something? Assuming you have no days off besides those 4, no holidays or anything, you only work like 115 days a year. I'd kill for that.

I'm one of the only white ones, lol. Fuck these beaners, deport them and bring whites back to dominating the trades. Everyone is crying about what terrible quality new homes are - it's because John and Tommy aren't building your houses any more. Now it's all being build by Jose and Pablo, who are drunk on modelos, don't speak english, and think following code or doing things right are a pain in the ass and a waste of time

>Strange management that is obsessed with training
This can be a red flag, might start to look for a new job.
They want to build a big file that OP was trained on the importance of inventing anti-gravity boots, so when they demand the impossible, such as inventing anti-gravity boots, they can fire OP because it says right here he was trained and is refusing to do it.
Most likely they want OP to quadruple-multitask or predict the future or some bullshit like that.
Or it could be a red flag like this:
> Be OP
> shit on the floor
> OP's boss too non-confrontational sends OP to "how not to shit on the floor" class
> shit on the floor again
> Now OP can tell HR its time to fire
Of course it might NOT be a red flag; hard to say. Could ask your coworkers.

>paid pretty well

The pay is… okay. I live in the UK so i make about £157 a shift so thats almost £630 a week. I dont know how much that is in bucks, but for the shifts I do I feel like it could be a bit higher.
Its not a totally bad tho. Like you said i got so much downtime that I practically read my book for most of the shift and the response crews I work with are generally a good bunch though I barely interact with them.

>$45,000 USD to take literally have the year off
>only works 10% of the time on the clock
>that means for the actual work you do you get paid almost $175 (£129) an hour.
Why would you give this up? Are you very young, or just brown?

>Why would you give this up?
Because im 22 and I realise theres more to life than sitting behind a fucking desk for 12 hours straight. I want to do something that's fulfilling and gives me meaning and purpose.
I couldn't get into my armed forces so I've applied to the fire service, I'm going to apply to be a paramedic once vacancies open up. If those fail, then maybe, and its a HUGE maybe, Ill give the police a shot.

Ive always wanted to visit Texas. Whats it like in terms of the rural backwater areas and also the major cities like Dallas and Houston?
