Is it even possible for a quiet guy of few words to get a girlfriend?
It seems like girls care about nothing more than talking. I just don't know what to talk about or say most of the time. It feels bad to force conversation when there's nothing of importance to say.

Yes.

Some.

Some variety of talking may be construed as some exercise of making the chain longer, but it's not all there is to. Some talk's value is what one walks away with, like lessons or such.
You could talk about what is readily available, and not they themselves entirely; like trinkets(necklaces, rings, tattoos, etc.), their attire they may have efforted on, choice of beverage, what's on the TV, how you face them(or out) with your frame, etc.

There's a difference between being quiet but confident, and being quiet because you're shy. The former is attractive, the latter is not.
I have a friend who is pretty chill and quiet, but when he does speak it has impact. Like a thoughtful comment, or a funny joke. I noticed people actually stop talking whenever he starts talking because they know it'll be something interesting.
Girls are like "he's so chill" or "he's so mysterious" and they try to talk to him to figure him out. He's an average looking 5'9 guy who works out.

lucky for me I was born a natural clever conversationalist. A few witty comments and I'll have a crown of women trying to one up each other and get me to verbally spar with them. Even the most haughty hot bitches cannot resist when they see other women laughing their ass off with some guy. And no I'm not 6ft tall.
