Me and my boys walk up to guys on their phones especially if they look too intense or w/e and my friend will ask to see their phone, we walk up/talk to them very suddenly so there's usually an element of their being off guard and when they don't give their phone one of us will take it from them and hand it to my friend. My friend looks down at it and says Cool phone, then turns around and throws it overhand as far as possible and we all dip.

I want to back out of this. It's funny as shit and I don't have any "moral" objections to it but I don't want to get in trouble. How do I put a safe distance between myself and the Phone Toss game, without leading my friends to think I have turned beta?

We aren't robbing them because yes, the whole point of the game is throwing the phone as far as we can. My friend has said it could be viewed as an act of radical protest against screen addiction, NPCs glued to their phones etc But I think most of us enjoy the big dick energy of the approach, confrontation and phone toss.
