Then fucking tablets came out. I fucking hate tablets. "oh yeah, heres your computer screen with the power of a wagon". What is wrong with people? Who wants that?

Smartphones could've been great, but nope, subscribe to everything, make an account, creat 30 billion accounts. Want to get a coffee? Make an account goyim, the fucking liquor store wants my data, I cant deal with it.

Fuck, man. Loved XP too, but still liked vista better, frutiger aero was peak aesthetic, then everything went to shit. The decline in video games started to me in gen 7, PS3 Xbox etc, but it was in gen 8 that it was all over and I dropped it, I passed on on gen 9 (current) and dont regret it, theres not a single game worth playing nowadays.

Most people that actually liked games and should be there, yes, but not the majority of people that play games now, aka normalfags on call of duty and last of us. The problem was normalfags entering the hobby and demanding trash.

Look at Zelda for example, I loved Zelda when I was a kid, it was challenging enough to make a kid struggle but not so to make it quit. It had puzzles, a linear progression, and if you got lost NPCs could handhold you and direct you. Look at Zelda now, Breath of the wild killed it, just a soulless open world sandbox, no puzzles, no temples, no nothing. Most sold Zelda of all time, normalfags that never played a single Zelda before loved it.

Look at pokemon, the first games had literal barriers that would demand you do a puzzle or go on a quest for an specific item(HM). Now? They removed all of it, you can literally walts through the entire game without a single thought, no HMs, no puzzles, no nothing. Even the psychology and themes got dumbed down for normalfags, first games had a literal graveyard, talking about death to kids, the first rival was an unredeemable asshole and the second was a criminal. Now its all colorful and your rival is a faggot, shit the enemy team in the first ones was a criminal syndicate and now its a comune with blue haired homosexuals that got bullied in school I shit you not. Even graphics and innovation, RGB was revolutionary, matter of fact every instalment until Sun and Moon was revolutionary in terms of handheld technology, and then the latest instalment is a buggy mess with PS2 graphics. As an old-school IT manager, I have to say you nailed it. Up until the late 2000's it seemed like technology was just going to get better to make things work better, but despite the leaps and bounds in processing and storage and battery power since then all we have is bloat to drive advertising revenue. Everything is a service, everything requires you to use someone else's equipment somewhere else even if you're not aware of it, and the internet may have been the biggest loss since useful information is now buried beneath layers of SEO optimized garbage and "content" produced by someone letting an AI regurgitate the generic information that another AI already output. Everything requires an account, or even worse, SSO so that everything you do is tied together for more efficient data collection. Windows 11 does little more for the end user from a productive standpoint than even XP did, yet the system requirements are an order of magnitude higher because of all the backend shit running to feed information to Microsoft's cloud platform whether you want it to or not. And it's getting harder and harder to get around it and find ways to use computers or hell even appliances and cars without it needing to sign into something.
