Because core gamers are not the target audience, at all. They haven't been for close to 20 years now. Core gamers play a wide variety of titles, aren't heavily influenced by marketing, tend to be very pedantic in examining flaws in a game and haven't changed in substantial numbers since the hobby was born. Normalfag retards play a very limited selection of heavily advertised titles and have no critical thinking skills so they can't ascertain flaws, and even if they did they will willingly ignore them if the marketers make them think that something is popular despite those flaws. They also outnumber core gamers by an extremely large margin.

It's far, FAR easier to successfully sell a game to normalfags, and far more profitable to do so.
