My girlfriend is a strict vegan so we are a vegan household. Recently, we got a dog (the most adorable little schnoodle you ever saw!) and we want to stick to our vegan morals.

The problem is, most dog foods are non-vegan. Most other advice for dog food is also non-vegan.

Does anyone else keep vegan pets? What are some vegan-friendly dog treats? We were thinking carrots but they are a little firm. Perhaps boiled?

Have a friend who is like this. Has three cats whom he literally doesn't let out of the house because "they harm the native wildlife". I've pointed out to him that if he's going to deny a cat its natural instinct then maybe he shouldn't have them as pets but he just shuts down and refuses to engage. Saddest thing is that he wasn't always like this, we used to go hunting and fishing regularly then he started dating some bisexual rainbow-haired chick and got involved with her social circle, became a vegan and it snowballed from there.

Dogs are not carnivores most dog food is largely cereal. You are abusing your dog if you feed them only meat. Your dog is almost certainly trying to eat grass and fiber at any opportunity.

Dogs aren't meant to be vegan. This is like telling everyone your newborn baby is trans. Purposefully inflicting trauma and destroying long-term health in the name of "morality." if you were truly moral, you'd either feed him what he needs (i.e. a diet that include meat) or give him up.
