Not the person who you were asking, but in my experience these relationships fail because the heroic image one must maintain to be looked at like that by a girl is easily shattered. If you disappoint her, make her sad, lose your temper around her, anything that to a normal relationship would just be you being human, to them its like watching a god bleed. They lose faith, start to question why they liked you in the first place, and then eventually leave to seek out a new savior.

I had a relationship like this once. She looked at me with such awe and sincerity, like I was a fucking hero. She looked at me like that and told me she loved me and It was the first time I actually believed it when someone said that to me. I got depressed a few years into our relationship and became more reclusive, and more irritable than I had ever been around her. It took about 6 months of that for things to finally end.
