Depends on if it's male or female and what region it is from. The further south you go the bigger the get. Tasmanian platypuses are roughly twice as big as Queensland platypus and the males can weigh up to around 7 lbs.

>>4963178
I have previously discussed that the true reason of these threads is to reminde people how awesome platypuses and precious unique fauna and their habitat are (especially platypuses) and wanting one doesn't necessarily mean having one. It could be as simple as contributing to habitat conservation, or visiting somewhere like Healsvillsanctuary or the San Diego safari park and contributing to their continued preservation for future generations however you are able. Much like I will likely never get to play hockey on the moon, or own and opperate a functioning battlemech. It doesn't mean I can't dream.

Just a small clarification for both you and OP: "platypus" and "platipodes" is NOT Latin. It's actually greek (meaning "flat foot/feet"), just translitted to latin alphabet and sound cause all scientific names are coded to be in Latin. That's also the same reason why "platypi" (just like "octopi") is always wrong, cause ameritards pretend to know languages and give a roman plural to greek names

Bring a strong stick or better yet a claw rake, it will look like a walking stick so people won't think you are a pscho, and you can gather up loose fishing lines and nets as you enjoy your local billabong.
It will feel futile at first, but after a couple of months of collecting rubbish you will be amazed at the improvement + people will be less likely to litter in a pristine place.

For not angering Australia reasons I cannot go into great detail about that, but I strongly recommend against going about it like picrel idiot did. (He then released it on a city street BTW. Don't be this guy please)

I want a platypus, but only on a timeshare occasional holiday basis. These posts don't make me want to keep one, all my pets are plants, but I really want to hold a platypus for a few seconds now!

What about something like they do at Healesville Sanctuary? You schedule a time and buy a ticket to play with a hand raised platypus. It has gone up in price in the last couple of years.

Sadly no. Although if it becomes the only real way via buying land and creating a wetland sanctuary, or a farm pond (they have repeatedly shown to be quite fond of taking up residence in these). Then I may have to invest in migrating in a few years.

Didn't really want to make a thread for this, so I will ask other Ausbros ITT instead: have any of you ever been to an animal encounter at Australia Zoo? Neither existed when a platypus first evolved. Although I get the joke. It's because the idea of a duck and a beaver copulating is preposterously impossible.
