I could go on, but there's a character limit. We're nostalgic because we remember how great it used to be, compared to the daily shitshow everything is now. Granted, it wasn't so great if you were in Eastern Europe, but we didn't care; we had 'won' the Cold War and were high off our victory for a good decade...only for it all to come crashing down after 2001. Even then, we still had a great decade in the early-2000s, recessions and wars notwithstanding.

So, excuse the FUCK out of us for having nostalgia. Maybe the younger gens should put down their iPads, spit out the Tide Pods, drop the Galaxy Gas, and go make some memories of their own. Maybe then, 15 years from now, they'll be nostalgic about something other than COVID and Fortnite.

I remember being in elementary school and the school bought a new computer lab for us to use. The teachers didn't know how to use computers and they had one tech guy to share among 6 schools. We learned about the internet and it took 2 hours for the teachers to teach us how to type in a URL to the White House. The teachers would be screaming at kids and on the verge of hitting us for working ahead or pressing something we shouldn't. Needless to say the school closed the computer lab and never used it again.
Get to Junior High and the internet is still new. the teachers by then had more training but still didn't want us to work ahead. The new policy was to only allow straight A kids to use the computer lab, the rest of us were told we would never use a computer ever, unless we had the grades. My uncle was a remoter worker for some tech company and he gifted me a laptop of my own. My friend was in the same boat and he got a sweet rig of his own. We played Doom and other PC games on our own. The school wasn't happy either because we didn't meet grade requirements. They told our parents to get rid of the computers and they said no. Was sort of poor in the 90s and although I had a PSone, only becuase an uncle couldn't afford some mechanical work my dad did for him, we would not have had any cool console growing up. I never had a Gameboy color, although I really wanted one and missed out on the pokemon games because of that. Now, as an adult, I'm obsessed with small retro gadgets and emulators. Didn't have final fantasy 7 but got to enjoy mk4 and other cool games on my ps1. Never skateboarded because our parents didn't like us outside on the street, so I was mostly a TV head. At least we had cable and got to see all the movies, though. Mostly for me, the 90s wasn't that great, but it seemed like it was a good time for others who were more fortunate. I always had shitty shoes too because my dad was a cheapass, now I wear 300$ boots to make up for that and dress better than most people. I guess the era did give me character and made me who I am.

The only game I had any bugs or major difficulty installing was Crusader No Remorse. If I remember correctly it used a new UI that combined a Windows type UI with DOS. It was during a transition from using DOS to install games to using a Windows type. Had to take the game and my computer to Circuit City to get it to work.
