Floyd was a career criminal and addict, with prior convictions, and the cops weren't there randomly either that day.

Doesn't mean that Chauvin can play Judge Dredd and had the right to just snuff him. He was convicted and I agree with the conviction. If Floyd had survived, he'd had ended up with a conviction of his own most likely.

Chauvin was in no immediate danger, and if you're really that scared of the bystanders as the cops later claimed, he wouldn't keep kneeling on Floyd, a rather vulnerable position for attacks from others. He kept kneeling on Floyd because he wanted to for whatever reason, to demonstrate his power, or because he really had some racist or "anti-scumbag" fit.

What she actually says is that Trayvon thought he lost Zimmerman and stopped running. Not that he went back to ambush him, but simply that he wasn't running away from Zimmerman at the time of their encounter. Having thought he lost Zimmerman, he was just walking. Then he sees Zimmerman coming up behind him, and the confrontation starts.

I think the bit of her testimony that /pol/ and the rest of the right-wingers desperate to defend Zimmerman seized on was that she says at one point that Trayvon says he was by his dad's girlfriend's house. Which would mean that he got home and then must have turned around and gone back after Zimmerman. But actually she says that Trayvon said he was on the back path behind his dad's girlfriend's house. There was a path running all the way along between the rows of houses, so Trayvon could have been on the path but not actually have reached home yet.

And note that however you interpret her testimony, it's totally different from Zimmerman's version of events, which is that Trayvon hid behind a bush, jumped out, and started swinging.

- likewise, Zimmerman's wounds were described by the ME as superficial. You can see on the photos from the night: when someone's had their face pounded they have bruising, swelling. And getting your head pounded on concrete? Fractures and a concussion. What Zimmerman actually had a bloody nose and a scratch.

- Martin's own knuckles likewise only had a small abrasion. Pounding on someone repeatedly leaves bruises.

- If you shoot someone in the heart while they're leaning over you, you would have their blood all over you. Zimmerman didn't.

There were witnesses who said they heard a high-pitched voice calling for help and running down the path. They didn't hear it clearly enough to positively identify the voice, but it begs the question: why would Zimmerman, who was armed, be running away from the unarmed Trayvon? And why would *he* run down the path in the direction of Trayvon's dad's house rather than out towards the road?

Cops have a legal duty to announce themselves as police officers, and there's well-established legal precedent that if they don't home owners are entitled to shoot at them. Even if she had been a hardened criminal - which she wasn't, she had no convictions - the cops still wouldn't have been entitled to shoot an unarmed woman.
